Others New drs tactical mk2

Let myself ask you this . I was told the Tungsten hammer in the Panthera . mk2 .22 700 would not cause harm in the internals for the design is different than the mk1 True or false , or do you know of anyone has tried this?
I don’t know for sure. I ordered the brass set from Huma and I find I can open the valve just fine with the heaviest one that is in there.

I am going to install the tungsten to get high power with the 40 grain slugs hopefully 970 & up, I also got the Bull Barrel to help with Barrel harmony, & 0 POI , if that makes sense
I know you don’t care for my thoughts but you really don’t need the tungsten hammer in my opinion. You want the shp plenum and huma hamers. You won’t have a big shot count but you will get as much power as it will give.

I forgot to mention I am putting the Tungsten hammer in the Panthera .22 700. I I do care lol. It was tried before , in the original Panthera , that developed a leak that could not be repaired , on the MK2 , this is the second rifle that I been waiting for to get the elusive Bull Barrel for . Those INFLUENCERS stress 40 grain ace @ 980 plus. If my memory serves me right I was @ 970 980 REG was @ 170 . The rifle wasn't struggling it actuallyy sounded smooth

I think that people get hung up on tungsten because it sounds cool and the density. But as someone who literally works with and grinds tungsten carbide every day I can attest that there’s nothing special about it besides the fact that it’s very hard. We just it to “cut” metal but it’s not really “cutting” its pushing. I think that’s relevant because that’s what exactly what it’s doing in the gun.

Obviously tungsten isn’t the same as tungsten carbide but both are extremely brittle. The fun part being that the dust doesn’t lose its hardness. Doesn’t seem like much but all my work clothes have holes in them and my work boots have to be re-laced twice a year because the carbide dust destroys them.

There are something’s in this hobby that I think are superstition but the I don’t think the Tungsten hammer issues is one of them.

Having as much working experience with it as I do I don’t want it anywhere near my expensive imported air rifle haha.

As far as I can tell the tungsten hammer is only .2 grams heavier than the Huma brass one. Ive had my gun up to 170Bar and had no issues opening the valve.

As for barrel harmonics the DRS is not an Impact. I haven’t even put a CF sleeve on the barrel and I get ZERO poi issues. Air-over-barrel does wonders when you have 250 BAR of air pressure around it. Mind you my gun came with the 1:40 twist barrel. I’ve shot 55gr slugs up to 112fpe with great success. Twist rate needs to be faster to go much beyond that. I find the gun won’t stabilize slugs very well after about 61gr.

I know you have the .22 but I think you’ll find the results to be similar.

My tip with slug tuning is go slow. The gun is super easy to tune but it doesn’t tune “quickly.” I find the gun needs 10-20 rounds to really settle after making a regulator change and the HS is very effective. Once you get a velocity you like and then back it out one click at a time… I usually find that I can go back as many as 3 clicks without changing speed (thus saving air!)

Well said . When I receive this wonder rifle I shall give feedback of how it performs, as well as a behavior report if that sounds well enough. I I am also of the Blue collar field. I am aware of Tungsten & Boron. If I can get the 40 grain going 1000 fps with accuracy that would be something special. There claim to fame is the 40 grain out of this rifle. I know 30 to 34 grain would be easy to achieve. But then again fps isn'teverything, what is a few ft/lbs give or take with speed & grain weight, without accuracy. I am also putting on a 300 bar bottle on . I am thinking I should clear 1 mag . hopefully. Also this is claimed to be a long range rifle. That is why my choice of optics is the Dnt Thernnite 635r & the Sightron 5x40x56 I am going to start @ 145 on reg & slowly go up from their. If it doesn't perform well , I will tune for lighter slugs. I want a rifle that performs , the same , after I put it away, & take it out & & not say (oh no what @#%$& just happened!) True performers is what I love of all of the rifles I own. I can't wait to try the Drs out . in .22 when I receive it . This will be interesting. I think of it being like the crown"s Big brother on steroids. LOL. I have plans for the gogious woodstock it came with. Ok Ok I will tell you, since inquiring minds want to know. . 20 cal DRS in classic Woodstock. How does that SOUND! . The DRS 700 .22 in Saber Tactical (Grey) This is what I call game changer. If the .20 FX Barrel is not up to my high level of standards, I will swap it out for a true solid Barre in .20 cal .Can you imagine that.

I have to say I have read some of your posts, All I can say you are spot on . I tend to hold back but 1 of my favorite sayings is -Truth Be Told- You just come out with it . LOL

Im fully on board with this idea! I’m like you, I very much like to build my gun/build around a slug I want to shoot…I haven’t shot that 40gr frag yet but I have shot a 56gr frag slug in .306 out of my Karma EQ and they were PHENOMENAL. If I could find them in .300 I would be shooting them right now.

40gr at 950fps is 80fpe so pushing them to 1000fps might be a challenge. Whenever the 63cc plenum comes back in stock you’ll 100% want to do order that. I can get about 115fpe with the stock plenum, Huma transfer port, Huma tuning hammer spring and heavy brass hammer weight. They advertise 127fpe with the 63cc plenum and slug power kit. So that extra 10cc is doing some work there.

But don’t trip if you don’t get it there right out the box. I’m gonna build a 150fpe DRS. As soon as I can get a second plenum I’m gonna make my own…I don’t want to take my plenum off now because I don’t want to leave the gun degassed for very long. I just don’t like leaving any Airgun degassed for very long.

I already have the aluminum set aside and it’s gonna be at least 70cc… after that I’m eventually gonna machine an 800mm tank/shroud so I can drop an 800mm barrel in. When the time comes if you’re still looking for that power HMU.

But honestly with the way those frags slug perform on target you may find you don’t need it.

As you can see in these pics that the frags literally explode on contact.
