I received the new barrel then cleaned, installed and zeroed at 25y yesterday.

The new one is slightly different than the old one in several ways, the biggest was the threaded end was slightly smaller so much that the front shroud carrier was still loose when threaded all the way down.

My solution was three wraps of gray pipe tape and a passing thought of clipping the moderator lol.

The breach end was also not the same, the port o-rings were further apart and the port itself was larger.

Today I did some tuning, I have the reg close to 170 and 2.5 turns on the hammer.

And as a reminder my Sniper was unregulated as such it has a heavier hammer spring, I purchased the BRK regulator bottle kit for it.

So far I’ve only put JSB 18.13 through the new barrel they are doing good but I need to try out everything I have.

Turning up the hammer spring another 1/2 does nothing.

I suppose if I wanted any more out of it, that would require some internal mods.

Previous tune with old barrel.

The image with 155 on the reg is the old barrel.

Right now it’s averaging over 28ft lbs and 838fps just don’t see it getting near 880fps shooting 18.13 without serious mods.

After putting about 300 shots through it, I put the bore scope in to look for any irregularities.

One problem that I have been having with it is that 2 out of every 10 pellets regardless of manufacturer or weight will be very difficult to load, alarmingly so, worse than a double feed almost like a jam.

Using the bore scope I was able to see an irregular amount of lead buildup just about 2 inches beyond the port with hardly any buildup from there to the choke. I also observed some burrs around the edges of the port.

I performed a very thorough and heavy cleaning and polish of the 1/3 of breach end and lightly the rest.

I used a dental pick and very carefully made an attempt to deburr the port.

Are these groups fresh after the polish or did you season a bit first? Try the 18.13 first or last?
Put 30 through it first, so far every barrel that I’ve polished shoots wild at first just like in the YT video you posted when I was thinking about it with the S510.

Started with JSB 18.13 @ 25y then M-lights @ 50y, 18.13 @ 50y

I tried 14.3 up to the M-lights but it likes 18 grains JSB or AEA the most.

I’ve been bugging @Dogowski about his Sniper unregulated, he said his is shooting extremely well.

It has me thinking about pulling the regulator kit off and trying to tune it in earnest, now that I have a good crono setup.

Not sure what to do.

You could try it if it's not too hard to remove.
It’s not, 15min tops.

I don’t suppose that you have a digital caliper? If so and when you have time, would you mind measuring the depth of the hammer adjustment screw on yours? That would help me greatly with a very close starting point.

🙏👍

Pulled the reg kit, 2 turns from max on the hammer 200 bar fill. Looks like the “cliff”, I want the flatter power tune. Going to back it out another 3/4 turn.

On another note the regulator gauge is +15 bar, so I have already turned up the regulator setting for when I give that another shot.

This is the best set of 5 x 5 that I have ever had from this Airgun.

Also since I polished the barrel I haven’t had any trouble with loading pellets.

Well, it’s right there at the 880fps mark 31.00ft lbs @ muzzle and MOA or less at 50y with 30+ full power shots.

Did I leave anything at the table or can I call it good?

I would call it good my man. It's not going to shoot any better than that at 50 yards in my opinion. You can try, but it's shooting amazing! Congrats on all your hard work.

You’re making it hard to resist this rifle. Good price for a new gun. Plus 10% ham discount
