Those that follow my channel have probably seen me use the .357 Rattler for much of the Coyote hunting I do. While the PARD Nightstalker is a fantastic NV unit I decided to change it up and try the DNT ThermNight multi-spectrum. I do have a big hunt planned and this will be my first time using it on my large caliber. I got out with my daughter for some camping and spent some time getting it dialed in. The hunt I'm going on should offer some closer opportunities so I needed some practice, I'm pretty confident at longer ranges but rarely shoot closer than 50 yards. Here is just a short look at what I've got going on and hope to share my experience when I return from my trip. Cheers

@MountainSportAirguns Good to see you involving your daughter at such a young age. These are great memories to preserve and an excellent way to teach her about nature. She'll likely be far ahead of her classmates in natural science once she hits grade school. Do you intend to mount a sling on your Rattler? How do you currently carry your Rattler around in the field?

Thanks, my daughter has been pretty interested in my lifestyle of camping. As far as mounting a sling I've never really used them at all as for me they are very uncomfortable. If I was to use one on the Rattler I'd go with a single point for sure. Another option would be a quality hunting pack that is capable of carrying a rifle, a few good ones on the market I've seen.

@MountainSportAirguns That's really awesome that she has a genuine interest. They're uncomfortable to you? My shoulder can get tired after walking around for hours with it. I prefer the 2-point sling on heavier rifles for over the shoulder carry and across the body sling carry. I've just started use the sling with the Rattler and I like it so far. I can turn it into a single-point sling, but I like those on more compact rifles. Do you walk long stretches carrying the rifle? Are you using any other accessories with it?

When I'm out on longer trips I can sometimes cover 20 miles over a few days. Unfortunately I have to carry a ton of stuff, majority is camera equipment. I've been doing it so long that I'm used to it, I usually just carry the gun with one hand. My last trip was mostly just stationary setups so not a bunch of hiking other than to and from spot. If I didn't carry so much gear I'd probably be more inclined towards using a sling.
