250Z I'm wanting to lower my Reg pressure. Need to degas, but how much? How many turns?

As I've said before, I'm a new'b with air rifles. Obviously, I don't want to damage the regulator. Would you read this to let me know if it sounds like my plans are correct?

I filled my 250z without touching the reg first because I read that they leave the factory set around 2000psi. I got the pressure just touching the red line for max' pressure and my reg' gage is setting at just under 2500psi. I watched both as it filled and the needles tracked together until the plenum reached the reg' setting, it stopped going up. I have the external 14cc plenum by C88 installed so I was wanting to start with a Reg' setting of around 2000 and go up from there.
I've been seeing that some say to degas the air rifle completely to change the reg' setting lower. But in the manual it says to degas until you're below the desired reg' setting. So total degassing isn't necessary??

I can degas that much by taking a few first shots to get the group on the paper while checking the speed and then dry firing it until my tube pressure is below 2000 psi, correct?

I've read of a couple sears breaking.
Then turn the screw clockwise to lower the setting, correct?
With my tube pressure being low and not being able to see where my setting is at , how many turns would you say should get me from my current 2500- setting down to 2000 or below?
I would then fill it back up and shoot it a few times to get the reg' settled in.

I believe it is best to degas the gun all the way to zero on both gauges then turn the regulator screw all the way in clockwise just to the point of slight resistance only, do not torque down on it. Then close off the degassing screw and fully pressurize the gun. The regulator gauge should stay at zero. Then very slowly back out the regulator screw counterclockwise watching the regulator gauge until you reach the pressure you want. Then fire a few shots to see if it stabilized were you want it.

I do not have that gun so I do not know for sure but there may be a lock nut on the regulator screw that has to be loosened first to turn the screw in then tightened down to lock the setting when you are done.

Doesn't look like this one has a lock nut. Lots of videos on this gun.

I did just as you said. I had seen several comments that the scope would have to be removed to do so but I was able to access the bleed-down screw with a simple small "L" shaped allen wrench to let the air out after getting the scope zeroed. I ran the reg' screw CW until it stopped turning easily. Then I closed the bleed screw and put it back on the compressor and took the pressure to about 2700psi. The plenum pressure only went up to 1000psi during the fill process. After I removed the compressor I would raise the plenum pressure with the regulator some and shoot a couple pellets along the way. I got the regulator up to 2000 and fired a few pellets until both gages began to drop together below 2000. I left some pressure on it as recommended. So I'm ready to start tuning when the weather clears a bit more.. :).
