Haha I just watched that video! Something he does that i could actually do myself....but honestly I think its mostly for esthetics.
My barrel has some nastly scratches (came that way) on the outside and when I do pull it i rub the entire outside in balistol. The rag usually has a rusty sheen to it.....would be cool to shoot some groups with and without the sleeve on! I got C.F. gauge covers to match my Ghosts barrel shroud when I got the Wika gauges, but haven't gotten around to installing them.

I don't think I'll be doing this mod as I have the barrel clamp installed. One word of caution, carbon fibre dust is one of the last things you want to breathe. Wear a good mask and make sure you clean the area very well after cutting or grinding/sanding it.

Im sure this is an improvement, still just a bandaid. Metal expands and contracts with temperature, carbon fiber doesn't. Getting a more secure fixture to the receiver along with tensioning the barrel with an aluminum shroud seems like a better fix for stiffening. Set screws are a weak link that manufacturers can't seem to understand imo.
