EVOL Is there different Evol moderators options?

I was wondering has anybody messed around buying the adapter and putting a different moderator on your Evol? Is it quieter?, is the one Tom makes just as good? There’s nothing wrong with mine, I do like how short and slim it is, it is quiet but something quieter is always better EDB7AF02-CCE8-4503-89A6-A39D7E31A42C.webp

I’ve tried the dfl’s on mine, Ronin, Fatboy and the Emperor. I have not tested with a db meter but they all seem to not necessarily reduce the noise level but mainly change the tone of the sound.
For its size the factory moderator is the hands down winner for me and that’s what I’m back to for the Evol. (The Emperor being most effective but it did seem to have a negative effect on accuracy.)
The factory mod is made using a pressure specific Tesla valve design in mind. It is more effective when you are in the regulator’s range and once you drop off past the reg point there is an audible change of sound that lets me know instantly that I’m off reg. I really like that.
And I like not adding any additional length or weight to the Evol with an aftermarket mod.

I would be curious to hear what it would sound like with the Sarissa moderator on it compared to the factory one.

The stock one definitely works well, I don’t plan on taking it off, I just wanted to ask because Iv seen a good handful of Evol owners put on a different mod and I just didn’t understand stand why

Because everyone wants to search for the best of this and that.
And because we are all overgrown children who like threading muzzle things on and off like a fidget-spinner and accessorizing our airguns.

The factory moderator does more than just to quiet the gun. The shroud and moderator work as one unit and the tolerance assures repeatable accuracy. Tom wanted something short, durable and that would maintain stiffness of the barrel system. This was something that was extensively tested and perfected over about three years. Adding an aftermarket non USA Made adapter to be able to thread on an oversized can works against the system, from my experience it was a waste of money. Aside from that the large threading isn't very precise, it's a weak link and this is the reason most will suggest going with one size up in caliber to deter clipping.

Yes I personally believe that much more thought went into the design of the original factory moderator than any aftermarket add-on that are being made. And… none are made to work with the shroud as the factory unit is.
That’s not to say that moderator designers don’t put thought into their designs…. They just aren’t purpose built to the Evol as the factory unit is.
I soon realized I was actually going backwards with aftermarket moderators on the Evol. But ya know what? It’s good to live in a time where people have options!

I have an adapter made in the USA, by a fine gentleman that also makes moderators called Wylie kanz. His adapter is titanium, and is made to the same high quality specs as the rest of the gun. I use this on my mini along with a behemoth quick disco moderator, and it is not only quieter, but more consistently accurate. Ive tested other mods, but nothing came close to the behemoth. Now, this moderator is SUBSTANTIALLY bigger than the factory offering, but with the tri lug feature, I can remove it and the mini still fits in A pack, and is still quick to deploy.

I run the same Titanium adapter from John that @Madeintheuk does on my .22 mini along with the Titanium Wylie Kanz from John and it did quiet it down and I am going to be testing group size with this mod and with factory mod very soon. Without any actual tests I would say that I did believe it tightened my groups but with no hard evidence and possibly a placebo Im not going to say it definitely did until I test both one after the other.

John really takes pride in his threading as well as the rest of his offerings, hes a very smart guy and his work is top notch.

@Airmad_mrad845 My Evol came with an adapter. I bought it used. No idea who makes it. I run a Donny FL Sumo on my Evol .30 when needed. The Sumo does what I need it to do to quiet it down more than the stock moderator. I don't recall having issues with the accuracy being severely affected while using the Sumo.

I have tried a few different silencers on the Paradigm and haven't noticed any accuracy differences from the stock unit and other quality units. The unit that comes on the Evol line is a GREAT silencer. If you don't have to remove it for any reason then dont. I didn't have a rifle case that would fit the rifle with the silencer at the end of the barrel. This is why I use the DonnyFL quick detach system on the rifle.
