Panthera I Jumped In!

Time to get some skin in the game. I really like the look of this. If the original owner of this gun views this thread, I'd love to hear from you. I really like the wood work, nice job! The rest of the finish of this gun should go Steam Punk. I'm going to look into that.

Looks very nice! I look forward to hearing how it performs.

I have a King in that chassis. It is a .22 with the 600mm 1:16" liner. It will shoot an average of .35" groups at 50 yards with the 25.4g JSB Redesign Deep pellets at 930fps.

John
It's funny that you say that because I was thinking, "what makes a King a King?", when it and the Dynamic and the Pantera all use the same block. Doesn't having the originally configured Dynamic, put into a King chassis make it a King? I don't know, but I feel like one now! 😆 . I really really wanted for the Marauder to be at this power level, with either a beautiful wood stock or a super lightweight carbon fiber stock. 😬

Daggone it! Just when I was thinking of getting a nice, compact plinker, Pumacarl shows off this beauty. Turn on YouTube and The Dollar Sportsman is hitting groundhog and milk jug plates at 400 yards with his Dynamic .22 cal. Temptation. Temptation. What the heck. In my coping mind, this is backyard friendly, right? ;)

It's backyard friendly around me, lol! I have been shooting and plinking, mostly under 100y, my whole life, and I'm good with that at this point. Shooting way out with bb guns is just too much fun to leave to others.

Limited to 19 yards in my yard. However, no shortage of state and federal lands here in AZ. So, that is another item that is egging me on to get another, or two, air guns - a plinker / pester and, maybe, hopefully, the air rifle equivalent of a beast.

Just to be clear, I finally jumped in, but I have been standing on the bank looking at the water for a long time and listening to all the others that have been swimming for a while. So ... I've been shopping some more. I'm not putting up with an Amp regulator, ever. The way they have those orings tucked up in there is frankly stupid. I just ordered the new Gen 3 Huma, I've got Huma's in everything that will take them and they are super easy to live with. I also will get the full 96fpe out of this gun, if I want to. So I just picked up the the Huma bridged wide open port and the Huma hammers. I'm not using the tungsten, that seems to be a bad idea, according to everybody. I ordered some slugs too, the H&N heavies, 34, 36, and 40gr, the Air Marksman 40.2 and 42gr, and Zan ELR's, to start. I wanted to get some 33gr H&N precision but couldn't find any at the moment. I'm going with .218 because most people do. I'm still trying to get the slug power kit, but everyone, but Huma, was out, and they wanted $25 more than anybody else. Which is really kind of weird because they were charging way less for their regs than what I could find them for on this side of the pond. You've got to know your prices when you go shopping. I also got a carbon fiber barrel sleeve, -why not? I also ordered a couple of specialty tools for working on the gun too. I've lost patience with making do, custom tools are worth it. I want to be ready for when spring shows up.

I am looking forward to your reports on your experience testing, truing, and fine tuning the rifle. Those Dynamic block rifles seem to be serious contenders and great shooters. At least in the reviews I have seen.
If I can't get it to do great things, than I'll make a lamp out of it like Dana did to one of his! That still makes me laugh everytime! That, and his FUX 1120 video, classic. 🤣

Well, the intial buying of parts is now done. I picked up a Huma slug probe, and a full gun oring kit, in case I screw one up taking everything apart.

The only mod that I plan on doing to any part of this gun, besides just swapping in better parts to shoot heavy slugs, is probably going to be to the hammer face. I like to drop noise and vibration by putting a plug of brass, or peek, into the hammer face. I have significantly quieted up some guns doing this, and I would guess it helps with the life of the poppet stem too because I have yet to have one break on me. If your sceptical about this being worth doing, and you've got two steel hammers and a brass (or plastic) hammer around your shop, hit the different faces against each other. Steel on steel is loud and lots of vibration, and steel on anything else, is very much less so. It's dramatic. I'm not usually a fan of drama but I make an exception in this case. 🤣
Since the hammers I'm getting are brass, I don't know if there will be a problem at all, but I might put in peek anyway just to see if there is a difference. It's something to do, and I haven't seen anybody else do it to one of these anyway.
