Break Barrel Should I Go Ahead and Shoot It?

A few days ago I ordered a blue laminated stock, HW 50S .22 cal. rifle from Airguns of Arizona. This is the "75th Year Anniversary Collectors Edition ", and all the pictures of it are gorgeous. It's not like I don't have enough nice rifles to shoot already, but as I drool over this beautiful new shooter (I can't actually take possession of the gun until April. I've explained this in another thread) , I debate as to the wisdom of not ever shooting this "75th Anniversary Rifle" , and just allowing it to sit pretty. Is this "Collector's Edition" ever going to appreciate just sitting unused on the wall of my gun shed? I don't really think so, and my grandson could probably care less about Grandpa's pretty rifle that’s never even shot. OK, so now I think that just maybe just decided to shoot it, albeit carefully, just as I do with ALL my rifles and guns. Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure that this beautifully laminated rifle is going to be carefully shot and kept clean (just like all the others). I appreciate the help friends, you've greatly helped. Let's all meet up for some good old time-- shooting.

If it helps ease your mind, one of my favorite to shoot is my 100th Anniversary Crosman 362, numbered and all. It is beautiful, and it shoots beautiful, and safe queen is not acceptable.

I think it would be a crime to own one and not shoot it!
I definitely wouldn't pest/hunt with it as its a bit too flashy and, yeah thats when i'm most likely to ding it. The laminate itself is probably a fair bit tougher than walnut/poplar and should hold up fine to use.
A bench queen is fine, a safe queen (or wall art) is not!
At the end of the day it will get passed on and if its still in 95% condition of new it will still be plenty valuable to most shooters, wether they appreciate that or not.
Side note....would you even be able to not shoot it? I definitely could not resist....at all

I hope you got a good version of this 100th Anniv Crosman. I have only read of poor quality for the money...

As I have said many times before this situation would be like marrying super model, and making her sleep in the other room so you can save her for the next guy. Owning one of the rifles of which you speak I can practically say that I have shot this more than anything else I own for the last month, or so. In case you're wondering, yes, I married a beautiful woman.

Think of another collectible airgun that increased in value over time...Sheridan Model A Supergrade. If it is great condition, does it matter if it was shot? Nah.

Enjoy it. If its a collectible (to you) and you are hoping for appreciation over time, baby it. But I think airguns are like cars. They need to be run to keep things working properly. Which reminds me. I have to take my Crosman 362 out of the box and shoot it some.

I need to look into that setback trigger. I find myself really reaching for the stock trigger....

It's like a song I heard a while back, you can't take it with you. I say shoot them all!
