Received my FX DRS today. Took it out of box and installed FX accessory picatinny rail and noticed it came with 3 hole and 3 screws for mounting but DRS receiver only has 2 open holes for mounting the picatinny rail. The forward most (closest to barrel) hole has what looks like a roll pin in it. So, I only used the 2 rear holes. Next, I mounted the Athlon Heras 2-12x42 scope and STO moderator. The only modification I plan to do is install a 910 Tuning hammer jam plate. This has proved itself on my FX Dreamline Classic over the last few years.

I then filled to 230 BAR and sighted in the scope at 10 yards and shot the remaining pellets in the first magazine. Refilled magazine and shot three 5-shot groups at 10 yards. Great accuracy at 10 yards. The magazine is a pain to load with my old hands and eyes.

Mounted FX Chrony and shot 1 magazine for the record;

Weight with Athlon Heras 2-12x42 scope, Monstrum Precision scope rings, FX low picatinny rail, and STO Pugio moderator is 7lb 4.7oz. Length of pull is 13 ¾”. Overall length, as configured, is 40 ¼”.

So far, the DRS meets or exceeds my expectations. I really like the walnut stock and the feel of this carbine. I would like a bit more length of pull but other than that I’m happy. My only concern is the reports of regulator creep and low first shot after sitting overnight. Base on my experience I believe these may be related but most likely are two separate issues.

Next step is to try various pellets to find what pellet this carbine likes at 30 yards. Once I find the right pellet I may try to improve the stock tune. I currently tune my airguns to between 12fpe and 20fpe based on my 50-yard range and for the protection of my steel targets. Also, I don’t hunt any more or shoot longer distances so I don’t need a lot of power.

Looks like this is going to be my last airgun for a while. I ordered it with my wife’s permission about two weeks ago. I saw a trade for an airgun I have always wanted to try about a week ago and was going to go for it with an airgun I had in my safe when my wife finally put her foot down and said no trades and no new airguns until I reduce my inventory of airguns. I reluctantly agreed so this looks like my last new or new to me airgun for a while.

FL22 - My wife shot PBs with me years ago but has not got into airguns no matter how hard I have tried to get her into them.

Hateful McNasty - The wood is nice. The wood stock is what pushed me over the edge to buy this PCP.

jps2486 - The paper that came with the DRS showed a test shot(s) for JSB 8.4gr at 900fps so i wasn't surprised. But I agree with you, I thought the fpe out of the box would be higher. This doesn't bother me if the DRS proves to be accurate at 30 to 50 yards based on my current requirements.

I'm a sucker for pretty wood stocks too. As a result, I recently purchased a Daystate Revere and an Air Arms S510 before they stop offering walnut. These rifles are in the same price range as the DRS but have more OOMPH. Moreover, these designs are older and well developed and should have better reliability at this point in time. I have 7 FX rifles and have had enough.

She's a looker! My brothers eyeing one of these, but yeah I'm trying to get him into a Daystate or AA as well 😅 I'm mostly curious of the shot count, let us know how many you can wring out of it, thanks!🙏 To be fair I've only ever counted my Ghost shots per fill twice I either loose track, don't shoot it to off reg, or plain forget to count them 🤦‍♂️

Really liking this wood version. Most all of the reviews on YouTube are synthetic stock. May she give you joy and years of happiness! ☺️

Around 70. That's adequate. If shot count is critical for you, then you need a bottle gun.

I just tested shot count. I initially over filled at ~235 BAR (about 5 BAR high) and shot down to ~105 Bar, estimates based on iffy gauge.

Shot count: 142 (2 shots didn't register over 9 magazines)

Last 3 magazines started to be consistent between 815fps to 830fps.

This regulator, hammer and valve are just breaking in and I haven't pulled the action out of the stock. Once I take the action out of the stock, I will put a digital gauge in the plenum port and look at the regulator setting. After verifying the regulator setting, I will try to balance the hammer setting to the regulator setting to fine tune the rifle. This will not happen for a week or so based on my schedule.

This is a new FX design and I expected initial issues. I have 4 different FX airguns and have not been impressed with the factory tunes out of the box. I understood this when I bought this PCP. If your brother wants a proven PCP that is fully sorted out, I suggest the Daystate Revere. I have a Daystate Huntsman and it was great out of the box (a well proven design).

I'm not saying the DRS is bad, just saying it may take a little adjusting to be the best it can be. Overall, I'm liking the DRS!

I retested the shot count today. I was concerned that I had over filled the reservoir for the first test. Also, I had read that folks were experiencing a low power first shot after their rifle sat overnight plus a regulator creep of about 5 bar.

Last week I filled the reservoir to 230 bar with my Regman Bigbore Airgun Regulator controlling the fill. Interestingly the FX gauge was very close to the better external regulator gauge.

I let the DRS sit for a week to verify no leaks then shot 128 shots (8 magazines) today. No leaks. The FX gauge indicated ~110 bar when I stopped. About 0.94 bar per shot. I will have to wait until I take the action out of the stock to test for regulator creep.

I did see the same issue others are seeing with the first shot being a lower fps than average. Based on my reading of other posts on AGN I believe there is some valve stiction on the first shot after sitting for a while.

Next step is to take the action out of the stock and adjust the hammer spring to fine tune the DRS. One poster has had good success with finding the plateau and increasing the spring about 3% above the plateau rather than the common 3% below the plateau to overcome the suspected valve stiction.

I have attached a pdf document that has the chrony data if anybody is interested. The test was contiguous, but I broke the data into 16 shot groups (a magazine holds 16 pellets).
