I totally agree they resemble rats but tasty tasty ratsI will have to man up at some point and try it. My wife has already made it clear she's outI have butchered everything from chicken and rabbit to pigs and cows, It's not that it's just the shape and similarities of the critters to rats I think!
I tried eating a Douglas Fir squirrel once.....tasty is not the adjective I'd use to describe the experience!!

Flour, shawarma seasoning, garlic powder and some salt in a ziploc bag. Separate the breast meat and shake it around in the bag with all the seasons and flour. Fry in butter. Put lemon on it before eating your fingers with it. Make sure you brine the meat couple times to remove the blood
Yip same here tons of mourning Doves but not to many pigeons....usually each farm houses a dozen or so of em, but not like them Air Tac Hunting vids....
Even have a hunting season for the doves!

You guys cheat though, you shoot them at a feeder. In the states you can’t feed them unless its in your yard. Hunting them you have to hunt them wherever they live!
i moced to Alaska years ago and squirrels must have only lived on the spruce because they tasted like pine tar you would not want to eat one.I will have to man up at some point and try it. My wife has already made it clear she's out
Not always.....but these were shot off a feeder. Remember, here in the UK these are classed as an alien species and therefore are treated as vermin.....just like the rat.
Ya but... I think in the UK them squirrel are evasive spices not a game animal as here. ( I think)
And I was happy with 2 squirrels, wow thats alot in one outing!! That why I have so many squirrels I think, I am a kilometer from town, and a kilometer from acres of bush, farms, fields on the other side, they very much prefer living in town, easier food sources and less Predators? My parents are another kilometer away from me, (2 kms from town) and maybe see 1 or 2 squirrels a year on their property.Knew there a issue over there , but I guess worse then I thought ..lol.

Reading on them in the UK I got to wonder why there population is exploding there unlike the small 2 litter cycle here.
I get a lot of squirrels here off and on through the year but I can't stack them like cord wood like them uk guys do ...lol ( thank goodness I guess)
Then I think I do see more squirrel in town / popluded areas then here in open space woods rual area.. maybe they prefer to thrive in suburban life then country?
I also read a birth control plan using contsevitve laced feeding boxes in the UK on top of any way to kill them off ..lol.
Just sounds like the gray squirrel imported from the USA does real uncontrollably well in the UK ..
