Others HAM 10-meter match - October 2026

I hear you John, offhand is a tough game. When cooking up this match, considered doing both seated and standing from sticks. Still hoping to one day approach competency without them, though.

Really enjoying the diopters again. Know we as a group overwhelmingly use scopes, and for good reason- but for this specific type of shooting, I don't think diopters are much of a disadvantage, if at all.

I hope that you feel better soon!

I thought the red dot would be fun (and it was) but not great for precision shooting. I will re-sight the rifle in with a set of our diopter sights the Challenger is shipped with.

Thanks!

Agree with you, dot sights are great for getting on target fast, not so great for precision.

Tried both positions with the Vet II in .177, Zan 13 grain slugs & Athlon Midas Tac. Went about as expected; a little better from seated & worse standing. Find short guns easier to deal with on the sticks, but miserable for offhand. Don't think the scope helped or hurt. Maybe helped a bit seated, but really think most of the reason it scored better was that it's just more still on the sticks.

Must've thrown out the offhand targets, can't find them. Oh well, not like they were worth framing or anything :ROFLMAO:
Score was 199/300 - 10 points or more less than have been averaging with the FWB.

Probably shot 15,000 or more shots with a Vet II from seat & sticks, so not too surprised to see a bump up.

Well, I finally got targets printed and the wind won't stop. So... in 12mph head winds (which can't be blamed for my poor abilities) here is what will probably be my official entry.
