Yep not going to ever do it. Will not pay a tariff on a gun. Just refuse on principle. Hopefully this gets panned out but who knows I may never buy a new gun again. Lol.

Is it FX that is raising their prices that the distributors pay them for the guns?
Or is it the distributors/importers raising their prices to make up for the tariffs?

There is a huge difference between the two.

There are some countries that aren't going to go with dropping their tariffs so the US will charge them the same or more in tariffs.

But back to the original question

Are the newly increased prices due to an FX induced price increase to the middleman/importer?
Or due to the importers needing to raise their retail prices to cover the cost of tariffs?

We already pay a tariff on many items that are imported from other countries. What is sold by Harbor Freight, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and others is subject to tariffs.

The company importing the products pays the tariff fee to U.S. Customs before the goods are released and ship to a warehouse. In the past the tariff was set by Congress once a year. Now it is being set day by day by the Trump people. Trump did this with aluminum from Canada during his first term in office.

The problem for companies in the USA is not knowing what the tariffs will be next week or next month and whether the goods will be sold at the higher prices. Many buyers will simply not take a chance and sell out of their current inventories.

A $200 price increase is far more than any tariffs if you understand how that works. Most, if not all of this, is just plain price increases to cover manufacturing and operating costs. Profit increases too.

I believe (I may be wrong) that the tariffs apply to the manufacturing cost of the product. So, a $2400 rifle may only cost FX $500 to manufacture, so the tariff would apply to that price not the retail price. Therefore, the increase may only be a few bucks, more or less. What the manufacturer does to the MSRP is another story.

Very simply, tariffs are charged on the value of the product as it is imported into the country. But those charges are magnified as the product passes through the distribution chain until we - the consumer - buys it.

Personally I'd blame the Tarrifs gentlemen. I just checked all the FX guns pricing at our Cdn dealer....the prices haven't budged since last year. I do see AA has increased their prices though $100-200 per gun ......

Completely a different thing. FX price increases for example, are the fault of the tariff imposed on them. Somewhere else I read fx themselves raised prices in other parts of the world . Obviously not in Canada so I don’t know about that being accurate

Honestly, I'd love too, but the Tarriffs hurt! First thing to remember those American companies making Airguns may very well be using Tarriffed raw materials (like Cdn steel) or second (As @FL22 mentioned) they will up their prices just bc everyone else has.

That could definitely be the case, maybe in a few weeks thier prices here may go up too, I'll let u know if they do...
