Others FX Price Increases

Not you, but I remember telling another “member” (I use that term loosely) in the tariff thread that this would happen because it’s happened before.

There is a reason for the saying “Those who do not learn from History are doomed to repeat it”.

Anyway, no more soap box for me 🤐.
It is always the case, import price goes up, domestic prices will follow. Opportunity to increase margin and not lose market share. Especially corporations that are listed on Wall Street. "Returning value to the shareholders "

If you want to play, ya gotta pay. Or just take up another hobby like golf, fishing, photography, women, R/C planes and watch your money go down those rat holes. Ya, fishing. Buy one of those bass boats with a 300 hp motor for $100K just to catch some stinky fish.

BTW, those blaming all price increases on tariffs, you'll note that American made airguns have also gone up around $200 as well as almost everything we buy.
that is the rub isn't it.
why would a US manufacturer not take advantage of the general increase of their competitors increased selling price but hiking the price of their own product. who loses, the consumer.

Because if said US manufacturers aren’t affected by the tariffs. Then they can sell their product at the lower price, still make a profit and increase their market share. This strictly from a personal point of view…

But who doesn't like some more profit ?
Shareholders aren't going to stand for Luis' line of thinking. ;-)

Sorry @SpindleB I had not read the post after the one I replied to or else would not have repeated what you already stated

premature response and escalation - it's a terrible disease

But US manufacturers can be affected by the tariffs also
Especially if any raw materials or subassemblies are imported.
It would do us all a world of good to see US manufacturers up the game with a "buy American" campaign emphasizing that they have not raised their prices.
What a morale boost thar would be

That would be what is the desired effect. But Wall Street and the quarterly reporting make it very difficult for publicly traded companies.

Company A holds the line and their quarterly numbers remain the same.

Company B raises prices and quarterly numbers go up.

Wall Street will essentially punish company A stock price.

If however Company B does not increase quarterly numbers then they get the stock price punishment.

That is very simplified since most industries have many more than 2 companies. It also ignores the price of raw materials which may also be affected by tariffs. Then there is the whole stockpile issue.

Most boards/executives just match import pricing increases as the safest route.
