Panthera FX Bull barrel for Panthera

Probably about 6 mos
What Barrel length to you have on your Drs slug rifle. I thinking I may be to get away of putting heavy a hammer & leave factory hammer in as I will have 700 mm, Im am trying to figure out if it will be enough for the 40 grain out of the Panthera I don,t have the rifle out to try?

There is a guy on agn now with a mk1 panthera with a valve problem very likely from a tungsten hammer. The pin is supposed to be bigger on the mkii but! Just a bit of warning as i really believe you will at most need the 14 gram huma. Im pushing 40 gr out of a 700 drs with a 12 gram hammer and 150 bar to 930. 33 are going 970

I posted this on the Panthera side , so I wouldn't get repremanded lol. I was told the Panthera 700 .22 would be able to propel the 40 grain @ 950 with factory hammer MK 2 versiun

Ive ran my MKI 1 all the way up to 230 bar with my mods to get 275 ft lbs in 30. The plenum is rated to 230 so yo should be ok staying under the 210 without any stress to it over time and having to replace the tube. I ran the test to see if I could get 300 ft lbs out of 30 but still working on it. You do blow the reg Oring in the main body where it screws into it if left charge and reg at higher pressure 210-
This was what I was trying to accomplish with the Panthera and running it at that level isn’t really what I do(170 - 200 bar if I really need the range with the 108 grain
Griffins or my 135 casted bthp. So that’s my experience.

If there’s valve problems with the MKI 2 I wouldn’t do it. Also I found that at that pressure you can blow the Oring in the valve body around the valve stem leading to loss of power. I end up installing a small washer that directed the air away from the Oring and up preventing this

For inquiring minds that want to know, Some intial testing @ Dealer showed the FX Panthera .22 700 mm with Bull Barrel was pushing the 40 grain .22 slugs @ 950 Fps. This was achieved by factory Hammer weight , which I believe is the 12 gram steel- with 6mm length, & 150 on reg. It was very quiet , the plenum refilling is almost as loud as the shot for reference, no recoil it could push them faster , but it will require maintenance sooner pushing it that high. Also lower shot count. Not destroying it, just wearing out the parts faster. This makes myself believe the.22 Fx airifles sweet spot is 80 FT/lbs , this is were they are most happy at. If speed with excellent accuracy one is after then the 34 grain at 1030 yields the same amount of ft/lbs 80Ft/lbs .I had a feeling that to push the 40 grain at 980 + Fps could be done , but at what cost and end result. To all the Influencers that say these rigs could launch the 40 grain .22 slugs at 1000 Fps easily, at what cost to the owner. one would have to repair their rig sooner than later. Who wants that ? In my opinion i'D rather shoot my rig rather than repair it. In my opinion if you want to shoot the 40 grain slugs .22 cal the RTI MORA will do it alot easier. I figured if I wanted to propel the 40 grain ACE slugs I could, also I could turn the hammer down to deploy the ALTAROS .22 40 grain slugs at their sweet spot of 920 Fps Also if anyone here has any input post it, with your personal findings Another thought I'd just purchase the DRS in .22 700 at half the cost to launch out the 40 grain at 950 Fps . as others here are doing. So much for the Panthera ,22 700, they all do the same thing. Two different rifles that do the same exact thing pratically Buyer be aware. This is almost a complete let down in my opinion. I waited 7 months for something that is not their claim to fame. If I am not 100% HAPPY with this rig ,I will un-load it & move on. Down another rabbit hole I go

That’s why I don’t run it at 275 ft lbs in 30 except in the bigbore challenge. It’s a lot of work repairing it afterwards when all is done. Why I won’t recommend it unless you like to really like to be tearing your unit down to replace Orings. Running a 1000cc in tank combo to have enough air for 30 or so shots not worth it but in compitition. Also running 800mm barrel on top of it too. Did get close to 300 ft lbs onc but that really needs the bigger valve body and I don’t have the machines anymore to do it.
I would get an extra receiver before attempting it also

I had an 800 mm Barrel on my Impact in .22 & 35 cal . They both struggled with high reg pressure.

So march of last year I received my Barra 250z along with the rogue air slug power kit and some fat 40gr apolo slugs. I had this idea that dropping the slug power kit would make it super easy to bump the power and that I was just gonna be slinging some lead around.

I found out quickly that wasn’t gonna work and then I was like a madman on these forums trying to crack the code. @Pumacarl will vouch for this. But it was a brand new gun and we all just had to learn the “architecture” of the gun, how to tune it and its quirks. Eventually it was a rousing success.

I say this because the mk2 panthera is also very new. Not quite as new as the 250z does but the panthera has a new block right? I just think its gonna take a little time to figure it out. I think you have the opportunity to be on the forefront of that process.

I chose the DRS because I had a suspicion that it would share some characteristics with the 250z but with a lot more power. So far I believe I was correct in the sense that I think Over-the-barrel air storage gives these guns a similar “feel” or shot cycle. It’s hard to describe but it just feels “right” to me.

That being said the panthera is the only other FX gun that I’m really interested in. I always knew there was serious potential in that platform and @Powermonger1 has made very clear that there is a TON of potential. You’ve already bought the gun and FX guns are never hard to resell. If it was me I’d go full ‘tard and just send it. You’re only looking for a 30fps boost and I think that’s very doable. Plus you can get the dual tank adapter and have crazy air on board.

Finally,

For coyotes ammo selection is more important than power. You need less than 50fpe to piece the skin. The power is to ensure you get enough damage when you do.

For your backyard coyotes 80fpe is more than enough. I dropped one at 155y 3 weeks ago with 83fpe at the muzzle. But it was a Hex slug so the expansion made it viable.

The 40gr frag slugs will 100% do the job. Dead center of chest, head or just behind the front shoulder blades will get the job done I promise. Be patient and choose the best possible shot and you’re gonna be VERY happy…. “Consult your doctor if you have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours…”😂😂😂

Awesome. If FX would enlarge the valve body by 1/2 at least. It would be easier to achieve the results. When I was doing the power mods on the Sam Yang and the career 25cal to 410 shotgun back in the late 90s i was milling slots done the side of the valve body and a 3/8inch hole drill through at the face giving a increase of about 25-30 percent. I would take an HR topper 410 barrel and turn it to fit the 201. Boring out the shot cups to hold the .410 wads shooting a 5/8 oz load at 900 fps with the mod. At 3000 psi

You had me on the foor , I had to pick up myself after reading your post. I needed that therapy in the worst way. I do believe I can get the job done. I feel I will take my time to put in the effort, between choice of slugs and setup. I wanted this setup for pure .22 cal power, with a high level of accuracy. Like you said said it is about slug selection . I will pick up some Frags to test as well, at least, I will not have to do any hardcore tuning. At 30 yards it will be shot placement , with patience. If I don't have the proper shot I won't take it. I always have etxtreme patients for this. . My DNT Thermnitite 635 r is a no brainer . for daytime or night. I shoot by myself all the time with great success, no whining of coarse. It is called trial and error, the potential in this rig is their I have to utilize it. I shoot right out of my shed into the woods , where their is a trail

Yeah. The 909 I did was a 50 cal 30 inch conversion it was really powerful for the day. Did a few for Ron Sauls most of his 16-20 gauge shotguns. Had to stop due to a retina detachment.
I got I I remember correctly the 90 grainers were doing 975-1000 and the 135 hand cast 923-935fps and 108 grainers griffins at 950.ill have to crank it back up and put the hammer weights back in and chronograph it. Take some new photos
I was hoping they had enlarged the valve and valve body for us americanos

FX won't do that yet do to their marketing strategy. We should all know this by now

When you yourself speak, you DEFFINATELY hold the room . I can't thank you enough. I can't wait to get this rig to see what it all about. Don't forget I had a King in .30 cal already. I was looking for an all out .22, & I just may have it

I’m really confused and my world has been turned upside down. @Cantona256 you're now saying the FX Panthera MKII is a gun that you want.? It’s a powerhouse? What the heck happened to $2500+ airguns being a waste of money? Now you’re considering joining this group of brand loving, overpriced Airgun fanboy club?
Everyone keep your knickers on, I’m just joking with him. 🤣😂🤣😂😉🤡🔥
