Wolverine Full reseal, leak found

Finally broke down and did a complete reseal today. Just got done, started around 7:30.


All back together like it never happened .
no leaks, I’m definitely tired after this experience.

I'm wore out just looking at the pictures! Doing a good job always takes a lot of time to do it right. Great job brother!

Can you do any plinking? When it’s raining and or too windy I plink from my Florida room out to 25 and 50y.

I need to complete the 30y Challenge this weekend. Hopefully the winds will cooperate now that “Honey pot” (my Wolverine) is back in the game .

Nicely done! I never have seen an oring all cracked like that. That must have been from an old bin when they installed it initially. Or, it was a particularly bad batch, either way, not good. I have had an oring turn hard, so hard that I thought that it wasn't an oring, but a plastic washer, but it wasn't leaking either. It is such a satisfying and good feeling to do a re-seal and know that you've got a couple of years before you'll have to touch it again. Happy shooting!

My Avenge X refurbs orings were all like that! Had to have the whole rifle resealed. Unbelievable how they turn to a cracked plastic consistency and just snap apart and crumble! High pressure is something else.

Must be a recent thing. I haven't run into anything like that yet, certainly not to the scale you're talking. It's tough getting known brand orings, they're all whatever. None of the sizes make sense either, I have metric and SAE kits that often don't have the size I need, sometimes I get buy with a scuba oring set, sometimes a plumbers set. Huh? Well what are those classed as? No one seems to know.

I just saw orings like those in a couple year old Airacuda Max. All but two were hard, some cracked. I took apart a Marauder, 10 years old, orings were fine. Seems like it’s hard to get good stuff any more, orings included.

Things have taken a turn .
After shooting it most of the day approx 200 times the cocking lever when pulled stops/locks up at about 1/3 of its cycle.

Starting disassembly now.

All fixed .

The previous owner(s), I guess loved Molly lube (must have been a springer guy lol). It was in the hammer area and where the pellet probe is and a lot of it, so it looked like it was trapping lead, dirt and debris and whatever else but it just gunked up inside of the block so I cleaned it out the best I could.

I am a big fan of a dry hammer area, solved so many problems doing this. If I was going out for a few days and I knew the gun would be getting wet, I'd wax it, but I won't ever be using any type of oil or wet lube in the hammer area again.
