My gun has seen some field miles, and so today I decided it was time to do a full reseal, including the reg. Needless to say, they were due, I also had a slight bit of green tarnish on the brass piston and adjuster screw from a bit of moisture over time. All of it came clean with a rag wipe. Overall, the job was very simple and I took my time being very careful not to nick any surfaces. I took an overall measurement with the adjuster screw in before I disassembled so I could set it close to the same pressure when done.

Something to note which may cost me, is that the black seal on the end of the piston is not an o ring(like I foolishly thought) but is something more like delrin. I was lightly trying to pull it out with the picks before I realised this, and put a very very small nick in it. It seems to be working ok but would like to replace it down the line. Just a word of warning, don't do what I did.

I used ultimox 226 for the lube on all parts and seals. I put a small amount on the piston where the Bellville ride as well. I do not know if this was needed or not. The rest of the gun I have already replaced seals on before so after the reg was done, the rest of the gun went back together quickly. This was a very easy job, if your considering doing your self just get a set of non marring picks. 20231218_111608_copy_756x1008.webp20231218_110813_copy_756x1008.webp20231218_104307_copy_756x1008.webp20231218_104257_copy_756x1008.webp20231218_104248_copy_756x1008.webp20231218_103447_copy_756x1008.webp20231218_103401_copy_756x1008.webp20231218_103352_copy_756x1008.webp20231218_103329_copy_756x1008.webp

Whoa! Those orings look pretty rough. How old were those orings? Where you use your gun shouldn't really matter much the only thing the inside of the gun should be seeing is dry air. I still haven't seen the plenums for sale yet but I am going to be changing all mine now too. I did look at my orings this summer and they still looked good so I will be interested to see if just getting old is the problem. It seems to be the problem with a lot of things.

Ya know anymore i just consider o rings what they are, maintenance consumables. They get old, break, wear out, etc which is why I only have guns i can work on and I keep a crap ton of o rings on hand. Those were the original ones in the reg, have never had it apart until today. I have adjusted the reg a whole bunch and those adjuster o rings were ready to blow any minute. I have replaced pretty much all the other o rings on the gun, and all of them looked fine but I wanted a clean slate.

Very nice, the Evol line up really is very simple and easy to work on. This is a good PM idea if you are handy, even if you dont have a need to. Replace them and know they are good vs being out in the field one day and having an issue arise because you have orings that have been in your rifle for 40k shots.
Exactly! Those o rings have experienced countless fill cycles, temp swings from down to single and up to triple digits, adjustments, 10s of thousands of shot cycles and were somehow still doing thier job..but they were close to done and like the universe would have it, they likely would have blown while out on a hunt ending your day, not at home where its easy to manage. I think I paid 20 ish bucks for a bunch of o rings from o ring store, cheap and easy insurance.

On the piston - 90 duro Poly with Ultimox. Any other combinations will result in excessive friction and poor regulator reset.

Our belevelles are electropolished be the manufacturer, they do not require and extra lube or polishing.
Thanks for chiming in Tom. I did use all correct o rings, and good to know about the Bellvilles.

This seal here where the adjuster screw meets the piston, is it delrin? Is it possible to source a replacement? 20231218_104257_copy_756x1008.webp

Yes, I'll get one to the PAD service department tomorrow. It's hard to tell from the picture but keep in mind our design uses a tapered seat. As long as the seating surfaces (tapered sides) are not damaged it will work fine.
Thankyou Tom. Everything has been working fine since airing back up but good to know they can be replaced 👍

View attachment 3463View attachment 3464View attachment 3465View attachment 3466View attachment 3467View attachment 3468View attachment 3469View attachment 3470View attachment 3471

Brother, I'd like to know the sizes of all the O-rings on the regulator and where I can purchase them. Thank you!

I went to toms website and downloaded the oring sheet with all the sizes and figured since it took me a few minutes to search everything out I would post it here.

Will someone that is familiar orings and the sizes please double check and confirm I'm not ordering the wrong stuff?

If everything checks out then others can use the links to quickly make their own oring kits for their evols.
