I thought I would just share some of the background to the new Daystate Grand Prix Rifle.

The concept of this rifle really dates to 2018, where daystate did so well at the EBR that year, notably with the Red Wolf. Those of us there saw mostly standard laminate stocks which did the job admirably, but we did wonder if something more bench-focused might help in the future. That idea remained as a thought until a chance meeting with Gavyn Jones from PRS engineering who was making a range of accessories for may airguns including Red Wolf and who, he said, was working on a FT/HFT/Bench rest chassis for his own Red Wolf. this seems a direction we might want to go in, so we encouraged and supported Gavyn through the prototype stage, and eventually into a limited production of his own stocks.

Although Gavin was quite experienced in target shooting, we were able to bring in a few of our own design elements as well introducing him to our own links to other champion shooters past and present to help to refine the design still further.

The intention all along was to not reinvent the red wolf, but to add to what we already had, which was an established match-winning rifle with a strong pedigree that could be available almost off the shelf as a 12 foot .177 right or even an 80 foot pound 30 calibre!

The Grand Prix chassis made exclusively for Daystate by PRS, is a minor marvel or engineering, with each chassis requiring at least three hours machine time, on top of which you have to add another hour of assembly and finishing. This is not mass production! And it was never intended to be so, it is a top end rifle, focus to a particular discipline, and although not a limited edition as we hope to be making this rifle for many years, production capacity for the stock is probably limited to 25 a month.

Even if you never intend to buy one, You can at least admire the detail and machining quality that matches anything found in any firearm anywhere.

Me and Jake have been doing a bit of work to our GP, as much as we loved it as it was it wasn't a sub 12 airgunners GP but i think now it is
😁
sub 12 .177 23in art barrel, re-worked and re-anodised chassis, bottle to cylinder conversion, some bits and bobs and the beautiful Form furniture to finish it off, it looks stunning IMO
