Marauder Benjamin Gen3 - It Just Works and Works Well

I was referring to the 250z, sorry LOL. The last thing I did with the Marauder prior to removing the stock was move the target back to 75yds. Unfortunately with the JSB 18.3gr pellets the groups really opened up. The Apolo slugs did good at 50yds. I need to finish the stock and then try some others. I’ve spent most of my time working on the GSX-CS4. The Walmart NSA did terrible in the Marauder. They have 216 in the part number, makes me think they are too loose.

Well, I have a super accurate digital scale that I paid $20 for and my JSBs are 18.13gr. Or I was giving them the same status as my coveted 18.3gr AEAs, take your pick.

Some people might jump all over me for saying this, because I don't compete, but I do dispassionately read all their results and can see trends w/o any emotional baggage, and the only two pellets worth shooting at high speeds in a .22 are the JSB MRD (w/flyers and all) and the AEA 21.9. If you've got some old MRD's, those all day long. I absolutely love the 18.13 JSB pellets, and they can shoot well fast sometimes, but they will lose it where the other two won't. If you shoot a 18.13 between 850-900 it won't give you any surprises as you move out. I shoot my spinners at a 100y quite regularly, using them. Yeah, there's more drop and drift, but that is easily figured for, and they are my number one choice for plinking. Seeing as you are mostly going for benchrest I think that you would be better off just sticking with shooting the AEA and getting used to those, at least until/if the MRD's get back on track.

Currently. If just starting out with no old ammo. In .22. Yes.

I have always said that anyone who competes is always going to shoot the most accurate ammo they can find. To do so would mean that you are not just competing but also making a statement. Whether it's a patriotic one, or brand loyalty. A singularly focused competitors statement is to win.

Know this Bill, if AEA had actually shot better than anything else I had, in my guns, I'd shoot it. If it shot equally well to JSB, I'd shoot that, I like their soft lead better, and that a shooter started the company.

I like that there is competition between them so that there is something to keep them on their toes, that's for sure!

I have one rifle that will literally shoot JSB, AEA and JTS so close to exactly the same that my choice of going with AEA is because they are the least expensive. If JSB were priced better (like when they first came to the US) I would shoot those no problem.

Point being, all things being equal, I'm going with best price.

I am really enjoying shooting the Marauder Gen 3. I have it tuned higher than what ever says it should be tuned. But, it works and as the title states it works well. It’s set at 1800psI and whatever hammer preload was required to push JTS/AEA 21-22gr pellets at 930ish fps. But, then I tried some 18.3gr JSB and some AEA 21.8gr without changing any settings. It’s shoots both really well around 965fps with just a change in elevation on the scope. Holdover at these speeds at 101yds was reduced by a little over 1 mil. The groups at 50yds are excellent. Then I rolled
The target stand to 76yds. That just happens to be where it ended up. I’ve been shooting some really nice groups there, with no change to the tune.

Just got my gen 3 .22 today and it is shooting 21 grain pellets at 780 fps. The regulator appears to be set a 1100 PSI. I hope to shoot them at 900 fps. I have had a gen 3 .25 for a month and I shoot 29 grain pellets at 900 fps and the regulator was set to 1400 PSI. Very happy with that. I am wondering how you worked up to 1800 PSI on your reg?

I don’t really take notes and is usually why I post so much data on here. I haven’t shot the Marauder much in the last couple of weeks. But, I believe I wanted to try the heavier pellets and slugs and just ended up there. I just checked and I still have it at 1800. It’s probably set at a 95% tune. I’ve been shooting between 900-920fps with 21.5gr. I provaakdo shit the heavier JTS as well. I’ll look.

At the Pyramyd Air Cup 2026, I was one of the lucky winners of a PCP rifle. In my case I won the Benjamin Marauder G3 .22. I am really excited and grateful to have won it. I bought a bunch of raffle tickets. You placed your tickets in fish bowels next to the prizes that you wanted to win. I stuffed most of mine in the G3, FX and XTI-50 bowls and then scattered a few around. I watched them empty the XTI package bowls three times in five minutes and so I didn’t hold much hope for that.

The Benjamin Marauder Gen 3 .22 that I got yesterday is my first air gun that can actually shoot the cheap Crosman HP 14.3s from Walmart well. 56 strait shots directly out of the tin, I did have to discard one mutant pellet as I loaded the mags. SD=3.6 for the string.
