Alias Airguns Gem CO2 Pistol Launched At AoA

The Alias Airguns Gem CO2 pistol is a remarkable full-featured, “micro airgun” with a full system of dedicated accessories to go with it. To be honest, it’s such a remarkable new introduction that I’m glad AoA launched it on 1 May and not 1 April. Otherwise I wouldn’t believe it!

In fact, initial demand was so strong that AoA’s whole first batch were sold-out within 3 hours. WOW! But don’t worry, more are on their way…

Described as “the smallest, most captivating air pistol in the world”, the Alias Airguns Gem CO2 pistol is pocket-sized, yet with a surprising amount of power. It’s just 3.5 Inches long and weighs 10.6 Oz without CO2 cartridge installed.

It’s a single-shot design, with a break-barrel action. It’s single action too: the hammer has to be pulled-back before the gun will fire. There’s a manual safety.

Airguns of Arizona says that Muzzle Velocity is around 400 FPS with .177 caliber steel BBs (depending on temperature, of course). There are two color schemes available: ruby red and sapphire blue.

This is where you start to see the amazing “system” nature of Alias Airguns’ product. The base gun is bundled complete with two interchangeable barrels. One is for firing 4.5mm (.177 cal) steel BB. The other fires 6mm Airsoft ammo and is fitted with the USA-legal red tip. There’s also an Owner’s Manual plus spare seals and tools.

The rear sight is located in a dovetail and is windage-adjustable.

But wait! There’s more…

There’s also a dedicated Air Wave Silencer that can be used with the 4.5mm BB barrel. It’s an optional extra.

Then – incredibly – there’s an optional Alias Airguns “Rocket” barrel set which can be installed to fire custom arrows/bolts. Four of these bolts are included in this kit.

Want to shoot .50 caliber paintballs with your Gem CO2 pistol? No problem! There’s an accessory kit for that too.

The Alias Airguns Gem CO2 pistol is powered by 8 Gram CO2 cartridges. These are available from AoA, of course. Plus, should you want to shoot standard 12 Gram CO2 cartridges – at the expense of a larger size – there’s a 12 Gram CO2 adapter available.

AoA is including this adapter at no charge as a launch special, while stocks last.

The basic pistol kit – in either Ruby or Sapphire editions – is flying off the shelves at $199.99. AoA says that whether you’re plinking, target shooting, or just having a blast, the Alias Airguns Gem bring style, precision, and endless excitement!

Historical note. Long-time readers of Hard Air Magazine may remember this story we carried in 2019 about the Goblin Atom 8. This was billed as the world’s smallest BB pistol, but never made it to production, in spite of great interest from our readers.

The Alias Airguns Gem CO2 pistol would appear to be a descendant of that concept, but firing single-shot only and with much more versatility.

Im guessing non-rifled barrel but curious if a pellet could be placed in the barrel instead of a steel bb.

Don't have a need for a tackle box snake gun now, but sure coulda used one with all the time I spent on creek banks and pond damns as a kid in southeastern Oklahoma. Water moccasins ruined some good fishing more than once.

Don't have a need for a tackle box snake gun now, but sure coulda used one with all the time I spent on creek banks and pond damns as a kid in southeastern Oklahoma. Water moccasins ruined some good fishing more than once.

You never went on snake hunts at your fishing holes with bb guns? We culled out tons of cotton mouths with our 880's and blue streaks when I was a kid. It's a wonder none of us ever got bit. But we sure made ourselves feel a lot safer about where we would step to fish.

Oh I'd sure kill em when the opportunity arose. But I often didn't have a gun. Had to walk a lot, didn't have a four wheeler or atv and the old farmtrucks would have gotten stuck in those real snakey wet areas.

Ohh I understand that! We didn't have any 4 wheelers either, it was always travel on the hoof. Carrying everything we took with us. Uphill, both ways. If we would have gotten bit, chances wouldn't have been good.

AGS had these things in stock a few months ago, very neat little air pistols! (Might be one of those rare airguns available here before the U.S.... my guess bc of the low power output?) Sold out pretty quick here, too, If i recall. One of these would have been perfect alongside a nice pocket knife and metal lighter!

Airguns are most certainly toys. Toys for adult men who never really grew up, but toys yes.

Various concepts behind "toy" but Google's this up right quick and I agre....

As for what these mini guns say to our children....I've got a 11 and 7 year old boys. They each have little short bull pups to shoot. They enjoy the heck out of them and I enjoy the heck out of them enjoying airguns with me. We're all having fun and doing so safely.

Hopefully they'll be expanding their offerings. With just an 8-gram CO2, maybe a closer to real-sized J-Frame or Charter Arms replica next?

UPS just delivered my Alias Gem in red today. We are in the middle of a Spring rain/snow storm so I can't do any testing and won't for awhile because of an on going family issue.

Initial un-boxing impressions are good with the exception of the barrel latching. The barrel pivots at the muzzle end of the barrel and latches at the breach end of the barrel. This system allows a small degree of lateral movement when the barrel is latched in the firing position. My best guess is this will affect accuracy. Unfortunately I will not be able to confirm this for awhile.

None of the reviews I have read talk about this being an issue but none of the reviews show good accuracy either. Once I get some time I will investigate the possibility of shimming the pivot point.

Note: I was not expecting great accuracy so this isn't a deal breaker but I am curious if I can improve the general accuracy by improving the barrel latching.
