Are higher fill pressure guns coming soon? Is this to support the Zeus 95 cal rifle?

The compressor was announced earlier in the year along with the larger Zeus. I watched Gregor's review and all seems good. I'm only concerned with longevity based on the AEA name. One interesting thing would be if it will last longer if only used for 300 bar fills than some of the GX compressors. Also - not clear if it can be used on bottles - seems to be a fill the gun kinda compressor.

I just got done filling my tanks, Yong Heng, filling buckets ..it's getting old. I need something like this. I wish Airforce would have continued their pump. It was basically a slicker packaged Shoebox but I don't think it needed a pony compressor. I want one like this AEA that is really slow fill but continuous run time. Keeps the heat down, longer life.

Hey Carl, go to Alteros website, I think they make a booster box pump that can be shipped to the US.

The AEA air cartridge, as used in the Defender and Harpoon, would benefit GREATLY from higher pressure fills. They both use that AEA burst disc blow off cartridge. Not that the contemporary batch of cartridges can be filled to 480 BAR, but future ones may.

Just my ramblings, don't take me too seriously, I don't, but the compressor might be marketed before the gun or cartridge.

Yes, it has occurred to me that a 480 BAR cartridge popping off in my pocket, would help me empathize deeply with the Hamas scumbags who had an Israeli PETN pager in their pocket. But that risk can be managed thru engineering and FEA.

I did check them out a while ago. My conclusion was that if I ever get a big bore air gun that they are a must, if not, pass.

My initial thought is that this compressor may be used to support the purported 7000 psi maximum fill pressure of the BinTac MCAR. From what I’ve read and hear it will have a 7000 psi max fill pressure and a reg set around 4500 psi. It makes sense considering that 480 bar is roughly 6900 psi.

Yes Ezana,

Higher pressure is required to accelerate long heavy high BC projectiles to a usable velocity in a reasonable length barrel. The MCAR is a fashionably tactical step in that long range direction. It is the same in firearms, except that the rifle magnums generate 65K chamber pressure.

The reason I speculate about the air cartridges is because a platform using that technology might be preferable to the 5 foot long 14 lb rifle that seems to be what current PCP rifle designs are approaching. The air cartridges might allow a more compact form factor.

I use my Yong Heng to fill 4 large SCBA air tanks to 3500psi. I fill one five gallon bucket half full of water and add 1/2 gallon jugs of ice to the bucket and replace the jugs with other frozen jugs as the ice melts. Not very hard to do and a very economical way to fill high pressure tanks to keep the pcps in action.

The whole setup is economical, but still loud, lot of little pumps and hoses everywhere, maual purging every five, I am constantly checking the lines and the fittings while filling, and did I mention the noise? After a couple of years it starts getting old. Back when I first bought all this stuff, If I knew then what I know now, I would have happily plunked down for an Omega Air Charger.

Yep, right about the noise. I wear ear plugs and ear muffs to make it tolerable.

Idk about these things, 4500psi is high...7000 is an entire different level. It's only a matter of time before one of these units has a catastrophic failure that results in someone's death. The AEA name isn't exactly known for fine quality engineering.

These high pressures are dangerous. I have become accustomed to 4500 psi but I only fill my SCBA tanks which are rated at 4500 to 3500 psi. None of my pcps shoot at over 2900 psi anyway. It also takes longer to go from 3500 to 4500 than it does to go from empty to 3500 psi.
