EVOL HPS 30 HPS thoughts

I’ve shot my Atomic in the low 20’s with no issues but when it drops that Fargo low I go inside and hibernate.

Ok, just checked the rifle and she is holding air just fine.


Was thinking about the stability of the rifle when I was on a barricade. The small base was hard to create a solid base, as well as the light weight of the rifle. The rifle is under 10lbs and my competition 22lr is 18lbs both with out a scope. Now being able to add an arca rail, which will be on the NRL22/PRS version, you will be able to add weight and make the rifle solid. This will also allow you to add a wider base for a bag or something to help spread out the foot print.




The first round was low, but the other 8 were right on spot. Hoping to get out and do some range work this weekend as well. Will verify with groups at that time.

Watch Saturday or Sunday for another report. Hoping to hit up a few areas for some hunting. Hoping it isn't going to hit the -40* temps that are forecasted. If so it may be a few quick hunts or something.

We have wind chills below zero tonight and tomorrow but not too bad i think -5 to -10 at most. Barely have had any nights below freezing all winter now getting thrown into it. That cold I wouldn't be outside if didn't need to be....

Agreed. My daughter has soccer today, thank God it is indoors!
If things warm up soon I am hoping to get out and do some hunting.

Lol I can't imagine! We're at 5* with wind chill -10*. Been fighting keeping things from freezing on the dairy today and yesterday. Amazing how when the wind dies down that so cold can feel good. Can't imagine -31* best stay in my friend!

So if they are the viton seals, -20 is at the end of thier operating range. I am personally not a fan of the viton o rings as I've had many problems with them and much prefer cast poly, standard poly or Buna. All of which have a lower temp operating range, cast poly I believe is -100 with standard poly around -30 and Buna -40 .

Honestly, those are pretty extreme airgun conditions and anything can fail in that. I do believe the other materials would hold up a bit better though.

Exactly, the conditions that I shot the rifle in were EXTREME in the greatest. That is what Tom was looking for and I am more than happy to push the gun when I can. Was planning on driving around in my truck looking for places to do some quick little hunts. Find some areas, hop out and walk around for a little bit then go back to the truck. Honestly no more than around 30 min or so at one point before going back to the warmth of the truck.

This weekend was stupid cold, especially today with the high of -10 without the wind chill. Temp not to far away was -70 with the wind. Yeah not fun to be out and about during this weather.

Shot 2 mags today to check the seals as well as velocities. Everything is holding and good again. Was just the cold.


Well the wife said enough with the big gun, so I went to my 10m gun and the gun I have built for ft shooting. Would strongly suggest everyone have one of these guns to practice when you can't get to a full range. These guns will really push you and show you what you are doing wrong!

For practice I am shooting an FWB 601 I rebuilt last month, and then an anschutz 8002 S2 that has been upgraded to shoot 12ftlb.

Weather is warming up this next week and I am going to get out to the woods. There is a ranch that's having issues with coyotes, so going to hit them up. Hopefully will get something to show.

Just got back from the range checking the zero and things are great with the rifle. Planning on a hunt this weekend and then will be sending the rifle back to Tom.

When these rifles come out they will be a hit, can't wait to try one of the dedicated slug barrels because that would make for a great hunting gun!

100 yards with the HPS, two magazines through the hole.



Of course couldn't leave out the Paradigm. Got her tuned up with the 25.4 pellets averaging 910 fps. This is at 100 yards as well with 2 mags.

When shooting both side by side, I can honestly say I prefer the HPS30 system over the Paradigm.

Now don't get me wrong the Paradigm is a SWEET rifle! It's just with the new hammer system and the new internal of thr HPS make for and extremely smooth rifle. I am not going to be giving up my Paradigm anytime soon, unless Tom wants to trade me for an HPS Paradigm. This rifle has taken a spot in my safe for many years to come!

i just ove the EVOL platform period but the HPS is looking more and more ike the cats meow
i will not part with what i have if when i die it can get auctioned off but at that point i wounding care.
short of the good lord allowing me to take one with me?
