Blackwolf .30 Daystate Black Wolf Chassis

Received a gorgeous .30 Daystate Black Wolf Chassis with Tube last week. Barb and Tony brought it with them from AZ to OR in the AoA traveling van. This one has the 23 inch pellet barrel. The barrel is tensioned.

First impression:
- fit and finish are excellent.
- very good looking gun.
- well balanced.
- trigger is perfect. Very much like the RAW TM1000 I had six or seven years ago.
- power adjust and reg adjust very simple.
- mags only hold 8 pellets, but function flawlessly.

First shooting:
- very solid gun
- action is very smooth, easy cocking.
- only gets about 24 shots per 250 bar fill - tube is 300cc.
- I installed an Athlon Ares ETR scope
- I brought 4 different tins of pellets to try, AEA 50.5, AEA 45, DS RangeMaster 50.1 and DS RangeMaster 44.75.
- from factory gun was tuned too hot with reg at 145 bar, and power wheel at about 10 or 11.
- it shot the 45 grainers at about 940-950 fps and the 50s at about 905-915 fps.
- AEA 50.5 Meh, BC 0.066
- AEA 45 good, BC 0.060
- RM 50.1 good, BC 0.051
- RM 44.75 very good, BC 0.049 and when I dialed the power wheel to 3 they were excellent. I think with reducing reg to about 125 and dialing up power wheel to get them at 900-910 they will be MOA at 100Y.
- very smooth shooting action with very little gun movement. And it moves straight back and not at all upwards.
- used a ZerodB moderator and it quieted the gun down very well.

More to follow, I will properly tune the gun, and shoot some groups at various speeds at 100Y, and then shoot some EBR style targets.

Well, I lowered the reg pressure to about 115 bar. I was trying to get the gun to shoot JSB 44.75 (or variant) close to 885-890 fps, and have power wheel adjust mid 850s to low 920s (for testing). With the reg at about 115, all power wheel settings from 6 to 11 gave me about 900 fps with little to no variance as I adjusted the wheel in steps.
The spring currently installed is too strong, and I ordered a Ghost spring set from AOA. When received I will install a weaker spring which I think will do the job.
If I can get the BW tuned for a good speed with the RM 44.75, and get good dope over the next couple of weeks, I want to shoot it at the TexTreme EFT GP in Clifton, TX on 7-8 June 2025. I’ll take a leap of faith since the gun I shot to finish 2nd place at the EFT GP event in Oregon a couple weeks ago was stone cold lights out.

Sorry guys. Have been getting ready for 3 big comps in a row, Oregon, TexTreme, and RMAC.
Will write more after RMAC. So far so good, accuracy at 100Y with JSB 44s and AEA 45s is very good. I have ZAN 48s to try yet. Then tune for the best pellet. I expect to shoot it at EBR 2025.

I’ve upgraded the BW to a 700cc bottle. It’s a totally stock gun (yes, it can be purchased exactly like it is now. When I got it the gun was a tube gun but the bottle is a factory option). I’ve been trying to find the correct pellet and speed for EBR. I intend to shoot the Black Wolf in the Finals at 100Y. Other than that I’ll be shooting .22 caliber in the One Gun Challenge.
As the gun has broken in it now seems to like the lubed AEA 50.5 at about 895-900 fps. It also likes the JSB 50.1 very much.
Let’s see how a completely stock Daystate Black Wolf .30 caliber with 23 inch factory LW barrel does in this upcoming Major. 😎
