Others We The Plinkers Atomic & HAM points

😖You truly are the new "Ham Lemon King" of airguns.
Im at 6 airguns, collectively probably 35yrs? of ownership on them and no real problems i didn't cause myself lol.
Big one being my Ghosts accuracy going out the window a few months into ownership, yup my most expensive by far.
You suspect some brass got in and jammed up the fill valve temporarily maybe? 🤔
A drop or 3 of silicone is exactly what I would have done too! Hopefully nothing went downstream.🤞
I think I figured out the situation with the one-way valve, if you look in the picture that filter’s depth can be adjusted the valve is below it.

I watched sub12 vid, he said to just make sure that it’s flush with the surface, but I think on my particular gun I believe the one way valve was traveling too far. As a matter of fact, it’s loud when it would pop open during a fill.

Just for experimenting, I had tightened it up all the way to the valve and then backed it off one full turn.

That resulted in the valve making a very soft click but not allowing the gun to be filled.

I returned the filter to flush and then turned it in about 2 full turns. Now it makes a very normal sounding click and fills without any issues.

Unfortunately it started leaking. So of course I think to myself it has to be from taking apart, debris or o-rings.

Found that the dowdy washer at the gauge looked a bit rough. I did have a spare from the kit that I bought for the Sniper.

Fill it, still leaking.

Took it back apart, cleaned it very well. Inspected the o-rings. Everything looked good, put it back together. Still leaking and fast too.

I checked everything on the end that I had open, not finding the problem. It’s still a part right now, but I’m going to put it back together and determine if it’s leaking out the barrel.

Ah drat, can't catch a break. Now that i look at that filter I doubt any brass got into the gun at least! 👍

I called AOA and spoke with Shane today. He gave me some pointers and said that it wouldn’t be any issue sending me a return label if I decide that I can’t get it worked out on my own.

Fixing it myself is what I prefer to do, but that’s not for everyone. I know it’s cliché, but you really have to know your limitations or be prepared for the consequences.

Speaking of limitations and consequences, he talked with me about my Cricket. The news felt like a punch to the gut though it was probably just my ego deflating like my Atomic 🤣. Story for a different thread…

Leak detection on the Atomic - good news, bad news and maybe some good news.

I picked up some balloons from WallyWorld to use as leak detection.

Good news was that I didn’t find any where I had it apart. Bad news, it lost 50 bar.

So I utilized Shane‘s advice for breaking the tube loose from the block 👍👍, works perfectly.

I did not pull the regulator, but there is a O-ring on the face of the Plenum side of it I removed it and inspected, cleaned and so on.

I did have two matching O-rings for the Plenum adapter to breach block, so I replaced those and put it back together and so far I’m not seeing any leaks.

One thing that I did deviate from as received, I did not put the adapter in all the way to the block. The locking grub screw, and flat surface on the adapter allows for some adjustment so I did not thread the adapter all the way, it allowed me to leave it one full turn from flush to the block.

By doing this, I felt the tube fully engaged the regulator to the Plenum adapter before the tube could be stopped by the block.

Sorry, I don’t have any pictures.

@FL22 I was looking at the WTP Atomic package but decided to get the Sniper package as I have been supper happy with the Sahara XR Magnum in .25 that I have had for 3 years. got the gun a couple weeks ago and and have to say it is shooting very well. straight out of the box, after a quick barrel clean, shooting 18.3 grain at 810 FPS with the power adjuster high. Still need to spend a lisle more time with the gun, adjust the trigger, but got this for shooting on a farm permission that I have. Mine came with the Athlon 4.5x14 scope which is a nice scope, but I have put a Zulus on mine as well. funny thing mine did not come with the WTP patch and I called AOA and they sent one out right way

Looking forward to shooting this gun more!!

The Sniper is a really great gun. I have a .22 that is unregulated and it is my most dependable and accurate .22 Airgun to 50+y it was new old stock that I picked it up for I believe $600.

I don’t know if you’d be willing to do a hunting thread, but I would certainly look forward to reading it if so.

Right now the best thing I can report about my Atomic at this moment is that I have that leak under lockdown 👍👍.

I don’t know if you saw it, but AOA is now selling the Sniper XR2 Sahara edition.
