Others Alkin compressors

i have not look at the directions yet but i will.
so you run it a few min to warm up the a few to cool down every time?
i was a bit unsure about the filling procss.
i think the only confusion i had was that i thoght you wanted presure at the whip ( ? ) before opening the valve but while watch one of the Alken videos that was not the case? so i asume there much be a check valve in there to stop that presure from reaching the compressor?
when i get a bit close mybe some of you guys and or gals can go over the whole process with me.

Doubt my method of letting it run a minute or two before & after pressurizing is at all necessary. Just makes me feel better to give it an easy start. Letting it run a bit with the valves open after the tank is filled is just a way to make sure all moisture collected in the 1st/2nd stage tower gets blown out, in reality 10 seconds is probably more than enough.

That was my understanding too. Prior to getting the Stikman, I would wait until the gauge on the fill whip matched the one on the tank prior to opening the tank valve. With the Stikman (which does have a check valve), I open the tank valve as soon as the fill whip is attached.

I see no mention of a check valve in the fill whip, & the owner's manual does say to wait until pressure has built before opening the tank valve:
Open the filling valve on the filling hose and then
the cylinder valve when the pressure reaches 250-
300 Bar on the pressure gauge on the filling hose.

Perhaps they're using a fill system with a check valve in the video.

Hmm, sure looks like it's no problem to start with the tank valve open. At first, thought maybe the purifier tower was already pressurized, but rewound & he clearly closes that valve before hooking up the tank, so it was empty.

Perhaps the owner's manual I'm referencing is out of date, & the fill whip assembly has been upgraded to include a check valve.

My fill whip terminates with a female Foster fitting rather than a female CGA-347, but I don't think that should make any difference???

Probably worth shooting an email to Alkin to clarify- I've found them very responsive to my questions.

here is what Alkin said
You can do it either way There is a priority valve at the output of the fill whip So if the tank is pressurized and the full whip is open it will not go back into the compressor You can turn the compressor on and close the fill whip too but the video is the best way to do it

If you have questions about these compressors give an Alkin rep a call or email them. Aydin is really helpful and responsive and so are other reps I’ve spoken to. They can answer all of your questions. There are different versions of the owner’s manual out there and there have been changes made to them over years. To avoid confusion, the reps can clarify changes to the manual as well as the compressors over the years.

Edited to add Alkin contact information

Finished my annual maintenance on my compressor. If I can figure out how to do these things, he’ll most of you should have no issues.

I used these videos as guides. And for the record the, oil fill cap and drain bolts are 19mm. The owner’s manual says they are “no. 17” which is incorrect. Good luck getting a wrench in there. A 19mm socket works, but a thin-walled 19mm socket would be better. I prefer to use an extension. There is a very tight space between the bolt and crankcase. The drain plug takes a 19mm crescent wrench. Before changing the oil, run your W31 compressor (valves open) for 5 minute to warm up the oil.

Rigged up a little drain funnel out of a water bottle and used a pickle jar to set beneath it to catch the oil.

I also placed plastic on the ground beneath the compressor before starting. You may also wish to consider propping the rear end ofnthe compressor up so that it is tilted while draining the old oil.

Changing the media in your air purifier tower.

I spent the better part of 2/3 of the cost for an Alkin for "other" filling methods before I made the best airgunning purchase ever when I bought my Alkin from Doug N. a few years ago. I fill 2 full size steel gas cylinders (about 900 cu/ft total @5K PSI)and several bottles as well without a hiccup with my Alkin. The cylinders give me quite a few fills on the bottles which means I don't have to fire up the Alkin very often. I also find other uses for the HPA on the ranch too so it is a win win for me. A bottle regulated down to 90 psi can run a post driver for quite a while.

Caught a lot of negative comments from people when I told them not to waste their money on boosters and cheap compressors like I did. When I bought an Alkin it was the smartest decision I made. If you are going to stay in this hobby a compressor like the Alkin is a must. And the Alkin compressors give you the most bang for the buck.

so far i am loving this!
i picked up some SCBA tanks i fill them up and use em for the guns fast easy air all the time and as much as i want.

@Xindaris Depends upon one's needs and budget. From conversations with others, boosters are great for emptying rented nitrogen tanks filled to 6000psi. If they don't care how low the pressure is upon return, why not drain the tank as low as you can before exchanging it to get your money's worth? For me the convenience of filling a SCBA tank when I feel like it is great. 1 hour round trip to the dive shop plus gas and the cost of a top off got old. With a quality Alkin compressor I figure it will last longer than I'll live if I maintain it. At least for my needs.

I figure if you have more than one or two PCPs you can forgo buying guns 3, 4 & 5 to use that money to buy a compressor and you're still shooting. BY the time you're ready for another rifle, a new and improved model may come out where you get a little more convenience (in improved features) for your money.
