What are the top 2-3 things that make a great benchrest shooter?

Having the best rifle does make it easier, but what really drives a great benchrest shooter? Name the top 2-3 things that you believe are the most important part of benchrest shooting? Of also add if possible why and how you practice this. What makes the best puff of air? How do you adjust your tune? Do you adjust at the bench while shooting? What do you watch in the wind? Do you only shoot at a certain point in the wind cycle? How do you pick your ammo and do you size it or tweak it? I'm sure there are other opinions I will toss mine in after I start see others as I do want to tweak or stir the results.

Sorry but I don’t think you will solve your problem here. This is what you must learn about yourself and then practice to change or improve at the range. I shot a 50 yd card today after cleaning and inspecting my barrel last night. I could see 2 small chunks of lead stuck where the tp joins the barrel that i could not get out. So i figured id shoot it that way see if that would get rid of them and it did but it gave me 3 big flyers that took a 240 something card to a 232. Live and learn

Just trying to learn. I like to save the competition for the shooting line. I think there is a lot everyone could share and maybe it would help everyone shoot better. Its a lot easier to communicate and learn then to buy and try.

But the point is every gun is different, every person is different there is no 1 way to approach things practice and experience mean more than words of wisdom. Shared knowledge can help sometimes but rising to the top of anything comes from within
