Taking place on the same day as the Big Bore competition, the Extreme Benchrest 2026 first card had a completely different atmosphere. Fired at 75 Yards range, this is the first qualifying stage of the headline Extreme Benchrest competition.
Without doubt, the cutest competitor was little Hanna Hernandez! Hanna is the daughter of outstanding shot and 2022 Extreme Benchrest winner Jeffrey Hernandez. Below we can see Hanna and her Dad. Jeffrey was sooooooooo proud of her!
But make no mistake, Hanna knows what she is doing.
She was shooting her father’s Thomas air rifle, reading the wind and compensating for elevation and windage in the very challenging conditions completely on her own and obviously enjoying herself!
Isn’t that just wonderful???
What’s important about this – of course – is that we need new blood to enter the airgun shooting sports. And what better way to do this with a child sharing a parent’s interest. Just like Hanna!
Another young lady shooting for the first time at EBR 2026 was Jenny Xu. Jenny told me that she really enjoys shooting and finds it fun.
Again, here’s another potential future EBR winner for the future. Well done Jenny!
Below, Tony Pellegrino was keeping a close watch on proceedings using one of the many spotting scopes that are always available for use at Extreme Benchrest.
The Extreme Benchrest competition format has 25 targets per shooter. One shot is made on each target and there’s a 20-minute time limit. There’s also four sighter targets along the base of the main target.
David Stevenson was competing with his FX Dynamic.
While Ben Pierson was engaging targets with a brand new Barra 270z in .22 caliber.
Of course, the FX Impact is still a choice for many competitors…
While Dustin Harding from Athlon Optics was shooting with his BRK Ghost.
Below. Jerry Kornfield was shooting an RTI Mora. This is a model that is seen more often this year at EBR in multiple disciplines.
Following on from this Extreme Benchrest 2026 first card, we’ll bring you more details of tomorrow’s competition in Hard Air Magazine. Check back soon…
