I'm sitting in a waiting.room, bored. So naturally, my thoughts turn to airguns. 😁
And I figured, why not have some fun with another goofy post.

I've created a few "levels" of airgunner types below. Let us know know which one(s) fit you. If none, go ahead and make your own.

1. Basic Shooter - you have one, it keeps the garden clear of woodchucks etc.
You don't really understand why people would waste their pellets shooting cans and other junk. Your favorite color is biege.

2. Hunter and/or Plinker - you have a few, sure, and you enjoy them quite a bit. You have plenty of pellets on hand. You sometimes put "the good cans" etc aside for.shooting later.
You don't live for airguns but you know of a couple of guns you'd like to put on your Christmas list...

3. Super Plinker - OK, now we're talking! You have a constant desire to shoot. To chase smaller and smaller groups. You are always searching for gun deals, pellet deals, optics deals, etc and steadily amassing a dandy collection of airguns. Sure, you may also be an airgun hunter, but if you could never hunt again you'd still be shooting regularly. You probably have some sort of range setup on your property. Maybe even your own compressor.
Often, inexpensive little springers are as dear to you as the big money guns. Basically, you're an airgun romantic.

4. Airgun Aficionado - Much like a Super Plinker, but prefers top shelf stuff. Searches for deals on top tier Airguns. Won't buy cheap pellets for their guns. Has a Springer, but it's a Weirauch, or Air Arms. Chases accuracy incessantly, and saves to buy what suits their fancy rather than "adding another one to the safe". Is willing to let one go if it doesn't live up to expectations.

5. Competitor / Perfectionist - a.k.a, "The Man with One Gun".
Focused. Driven. Committed to the pursuit of human and mechanical perfection. "One hole" groups aren't good enough for this shooter. Same Hole groups are what they are after. Once achieved, they push for longer and longer ranges.
Dedicated to a single platform (don't call it a gun newbie), they only upgrade once they have wrung every last speck of accuracy from it. You may never see them shooting spinners at your local range, but the big time retailers know who they're big time shooters. Because they are In It To Win It!

6. Airgun Nut - you have airguns on the brain, plain and simple. You stopped trying to set a.budget for your acquisitions years ago. You assume that you're going to tune every gun that comes your way before you even see it.
Buying guns now to shoot once you retire, the way Ralfy bunkers Scotch. You're deep into the obscure stuff, and have a room in your home dedicated to airguns. At least.one, anyway...

7. Airgun Loon - basically, you're the reincarnation of Robert Beeman without having a retail airgun operation to cover your "quirky" fixation on all things airgun.

Did I say quirky? I meant unstable, unhinged lunacy. You are crackpot...! Weido, freak, nut job, etc. And I salute you. 😁

Well, there you go.
Where do you fit in? I feel like I'm in Super Plinker category myself...

Don’t quite know where i fit cause im always chasing tighter groups but mostly with 1 type of gun 👻 i have 3 and a multitude of barrels. My 177 is my ft gun and im always chasing a perfect score. I bench shoot and again trying to shoot a perfect score with different calibers , slugs and pellets. I don’t hunt much and i don’t buy all kinds of new and better products concentrating on my main goal- perfection. Guess that makes me a 5

I’m not really sure what level I would classify as, but I can probably guess: semi-obsessed. I have never not owned an airgun since 1972 when I was 11. I lived in England while my dad was in Vietnam, my cousin gave me a German Diana mod 2 and I hid it from my mom.. Airguns satisfied my intense desire to shoot and hunt. About an hour ago I told my wife that we need to go to the store and buy some pellets and maybe a new barrel. She said ok, I’m always up for a road trip. I then told her it was a little further than our longest spontaneous road trip. How far? Me: “1747 miles.” Our previous longest trip on a whim was when I asked her if she wanted steak for dinner. She said sure. Twenty four hours and 1050 miles later we were sitting in the Big Texan in Amarillo eating steak. Now she’s telling me we should plan it around a trip to a big airgun event that we could watch.

Super plinker for sure. I have three compressors, three air tanks and two hand pumps, all so I can be assured to never be without air or something to shoot. I have a smallish range in my basement for those nasty weather times and a sportsman club nearby for longer range shooting. All this so I can try getting five pellets to go thru the same hole! Who needs to kill critters when I have so much fun killing bullseyes!

Excellent post, I am a good mix of #2 and #4! Everything I own must be decent for pesting, i do collect cans but plink very little.
I own 4 airguns right now but only really shoot 3....my Slavia is gonna get sold, eventually, it just aint fancy or enough punch (5-6fpe) I own 1 good springer (TX200) and plan to buy an HW, probably the 50. I own 2 expensive pcps and plan to add a third, not yet sure what it will be but it will be the "hammer" of the group (.25 or .30) That's it. 5.....just seems like a perfect number. I don't understand collectors 😒😂

I'm calling you out😌 I do believe you are a collector as well, with your own gun room! Not judging, maybe some #6?😅
@Danman I get what I think I’d like and try to work with it for hunting purposes. Once I can’t find a need or want that justifies buying more guns, then I just lust. I have .22 to .45 covered. I can’t see much more of a need other than curiosity. Now I’m more focused on completing my setups, becoming more familiar with them, and learning more about maintenance and repairs. Owning a bunch of guns that one cannot maintain increases costs for this hobby. That’s asinine to me.

1 of the reasons i like the ghost so much in the 2 years of owning ive had to replace i breach o ring on a new barrel that came without 1 and 1 barrel oring that got nicked by a sharp barrel step right after getting the first gun.
