Update, still at 160. :) But also still a bitch to load. One spot on the mag has way more resistance than the rest like something is out of center. Anyone else had this issue?

I've had my Rattler 357 for about 2 wks now. I've been generally very pleased with the consistency and accuracy. When I received it the reg was at 140 and has stayed there until today. I noticed it was at 150 this am, took 2 shots, noticed a big jump in recoil and subsequent increase in fpe. Now it's at 165. Any of you guys dealt with this?

@surfspot I just thought about something. What was the pressure reading on your reservoir manometer this morning when you noticed the jump?

275 my usual filled pressure
@surfspot The recommended max fill pressure per the owner’s manual is 250 bar. If the ambient air temperature rose from the time that you filled your reservoir to the time you noticed a change in your regulator set pressure, I’d bet money that your higher than recommended fill pressure coupled with rising ambient air temperature is the culprit. What sucks is that some of these guns have a max fill pressure of 300 bar printed on the receiver chasis. Ignore that because it is incorrect and incompatible with Western Airgun’s instructions. I guess 300 bar was wishful thinking on their part during the design phase or the ordering of parts in bulk from the manufacturer.

I’ve experienced pushing up the regulator set pressure and messing up a regulator seal (when the regulator already had issues) by filling the another brand of airgun’s reservoir beyond the recommended fill pressure. I recommend avoiding this issue altogether by following the recommendation of the owner’s manual.

My Manual says 300bar. I just verified it was correct with AOA. 300 bar is correct. Maybe you have an old owners manual.

Not sure why you're so adamant about being right. Or giving me the 3rd degree on who I talked to. Call'm yourself since you don't believe me.

@surfspot 3rd degree? Are you young, handicapped, sensitive, or something? If so let me know and I can take those things into consideration. At this point you’re assuming and putting words in my mouth. My issue is not with you. If you knew anything about me, being right on forums is not too important. I deal with facts and I take words seriously. I don’t know you and what you type is all I can see. That’s all we have here. You said “I just verified with AOA” and that was around 7pm in Arizona to my recollection.

Which makes no sense considering their business hours unless you misspoke.

But you’re assuming I “have to be right?” Read what you typed. My assumption is that you and I are here to get to the bottom of your issue and now we have encountered another problem. What’s needed is uniform information about a product at the center of this discussion. This would not be the first time that AOA and or Western Airguns have put out conflicting information. That is a problem. Making changes to a product and not being transparent about said changes and their effects is a problem because we find ourselves in situations like this one - trying to troubleshoot an issue with differ e sets of information. We both have posted photos of different information. If in fact pertinent design changes have occurred that allows a higher operating pressure, I’d like to know what changed and when. So if you think this is about me, I don’t follow your train of thought. I don’t have this issue, but if a person spends $2700 on an airgun (s)he shouldn’t have to worry about voiding his warranty for making a mistake with his/her new rifle due to various sets of information floating around the internet.

With all that said, if you’re in communication with the someone at AOA that knows this platform and you’re having this problem, why are you posting the same question about your unresolved issue across two forums? Also, thank you for posting a photo of what’s in your user’s guide. It would have been nice to be able to read the entire page.

Obviously I talked to AOA during business hr's. I posted on the other forum in the hopes of reaching more Rattler owners. Thanks for reply. Happy hunting. Btw, my gun is holding at 160 which is what AOA sends them out at now.

I am only chiming in on the gun and information I have. I bought my gun from a local air gun dealer here in Idaho about 1.5 mos ago. The instruction manual included with my gun states a max fill pressure of 300 BAR. It also has a new updated copyright date of "2024" printed in the lower sections of each page of the hardcopy manual. Even today, when downloading the instructions from WAG, it states a "final copyright date of 2022". I believe the instruction manual via the URL on their website just has not been updated and is not correct. That is just my opinion! My gun serial # is *1559. Personally, I have not reached out to WAG, I am only relying on the information from my local air gun store that they reaffirm the max 300 BAR setting is correct.

@jeffu Thank you kindly for that information. Now I’d like to know what was changed between 2022 and 2024 that warrants an increased max fill pressure.

Even if being in contact with AoA it was still a good idea to post here, you didn't bash the gun, the dealer, or the manufacturer but simply started a discussion. If you didn't post to start discussion and a future Rattler owner ran into the same issue and decided to search, they'd never find the thread or the findings because you never would have posted it.

Thats what the forum is here for :)

Now I do notice that HAM 2022 review shows an Omega Bottle and the 2024 rifles coming with a Tuxing bottle, however I doubt that is going to be the change in pressure. Being that the Rattler was released in June of 2022, I can only assume it has gone through many stages as feedback was given, possibly a different material used on an internal component, that I can't answer but this discussion might bring to light the changes between 2022 till now.
