EVOL Tom and American Air Arms

So I will start this off by saying that, neither of my Evols I got new from a distributor, my hps went through who knows how many owners and my mini , 3 owners.

From a manufacturer stand point , Tom owes me nothing. From a consumer stand point, I can't really expect anything from him.

If you were to watch all of this as a fly on the wall you'd think I just purchased both rifles from him.

When I got my hps , I had messaged Tom on a competing forum before HAM forum existed and he immediately got back to me, detailed, thoughtful responses with the info I was looking for. I thought that was stand up, also responded to a friend of mine about magazines and lighter ammunition and how to remedy some jamming issues, I know he had them send the mags in so he could remedy this for us, my friend did not get his Evol new either...

Come to my mini, I messaged Tom last week on Thursday about how my Mini came with a bent pellet probe. The mini I got 4th hand. After a few back and forth and 34 minutes of time, Tom had a tracking number for me and very detailed instructions on how to replace it. The probe showed up yesterday, 2 , TWO!!! business days later I had my new probe, extra probe orings, and a cool AAA patch.

Here is the kicker and not sure if I should say this. Tom did not ask anything from me for this. He just supported his product. Totally blew me away. I can't really say much more without sounding like I'm kissing his rear but I can say that my 3rd Evol will be a new purchase and it will 100% happen.

Similar experience with Tom. While I was the original owner in my case... let's just say I'd have been satisfied with far less than he provided. All at AAA expense, & it was a lot more than a few minutes time & a few dollars worth of materials.

He sets the benchmark for how a trustworthy manufacturer interacts with customers.

Honestly I don't know, I can't imagine , I don't want to imagine lmao

Lucky for us evol owners, the rifles are OVERBUILT and simple so I have now literally seen everything inside both my rifles first hand and know what's going on.

Time to tune this one this weekend if I find time.

Shouldn't be an issue. I got almost 5 mags on full 4000psi fill. Around 4 mags at 250bar. 885fps with 16gr. 925fps with the 14.3gr CPHPs.

My reg is at about 1650 I think, I need to retune it my way. That way I know where it is at.

Mines right at 2000psi. Just for a baseline if you're curious. Max fps is 925fps with 16gr.

Thank you, I'm going to try n see if I can get it as tight as my hps. Probably gun for 850 to 870 with 15.89

Glad you got your probe issue straightened out. Pun intended. Tom does stand behind his products and I've also experienced great service from him.

I wonder if having the cocking lever opened on an empty mag and negligently discharging it without holding the lever open would have caused the probe to bend like that.

Odd, that’s similar to my settings, but I’m getting nowhere near that shot count. I fill to about 3800psi (tank is low), and I’m getting about 3 mags worth. Must be wasting air. I’m going to try and back off the hammer a bit and see what happens.

Good luck with backing the hammer off, i actually backed it off similar to my hps and it would not fit in the chassis but actions are actually different as we were talking about the other day with the pic rail height. Different dimensionally anyways. I am going to bring it back down to 1650 - 1750 where it was before and fiddle with the hst. I don't think I will be able to get it as consistent as the HPS due to whats needed to get the speed with the 10.5 inch barrel.

These probes are rugged man, I am not even sure that would bend it so.

Yeah I would find your max FPS and see what it is. Then back off around 3-5% of the max. That's what I do.

Thats a good point, I didnt think of taking the stock off to adjust it, you just created a whole nother animal haha awesome

This is the tune I ended up with.

35/36 shots from 3000 to 1650, math says I should be able to get 60 shots.
