Nice. I've been considering doing the same thing. Except that I was going to angle the plate so the pellet deflects downward.

Thanks, the pellets that have shoot so far mushroom and fall. I have been able to retrieve all the lead.

Yeah richocets from pellets (on steel) aren't really a thing. I shot a flat piece of steel @20Y this summer with my Ghost, sending everything I had Veerrrryyy fast to test that exact thing. I spread a blanket out in front and every single pellet was stuck to the steel or laying on the blanket 5ft in front. I assumed they would have gone everywhere, they didn't! Angling it down may speed clean up a little though if nothing else?

Mostly yes, however with higher powered airguns at closer range there can be some or significant splatter. Give me a few and my next post I’ll show you what I mean.

Yup... I was going to picture the flags that got holes ,/ rips in the fabric and pecks in the wood pole stick .. just like you show in your example .

Why I suggest the bucket/ barrel trap to contain all lead inside the bucket /barrel.

Well I got the pic anyway.

I don't intentionally shoot it ..lol that's the shrapnel from fragments of a pellets hitting the steel plate below it ..

Agreed. Yes, they definitely fragment still ..I clean out my trap and there is shards stuck in the plywood that my targets are stapled to. The entire pellet coming back at you? Not so much, definitely not like BBs. For sure I'd stay 20Y back still or wear glasses. Even the H&N Hornet I shot stayed in place mostly. I sent it 1100fps into the steel and all the lead literally folded over the brass tip and it was a pancake. Tip was mostly fine just blunted H&N uses some seriously solid material for that!!!!

Mine like that if I first set out or move them .

Back and forth. From bench to rack to " turn" it just a little more one way or another .. lol

I whine during the process I really need someone down then at the rack to
Turn it while I sit at the bench correcting to adjustment straight toward me ..

It would have a lot of walking trips .. lol

I'm surprised it's not on wheels to easily move around .. like maybe 2 wheel wheelbarrow style or something .

I don’t think I would want to try and engineer something like that. That plate weighs close to 250 pounds plus everything needed to support it vertically.

Maybe if I had an old lawn equipment trailer that wasn’t roadworthy anymore or something like that would work.
