What'cha doing air gun related today?

My home range doesn't allow me past 70yds as I would have to shoot through a woven wire fence to go further. In the near future I will load-up my bench and gear into our SXS or pickup and head a short distance out back where I can get to 100yds (or further). Now that I have seen how well the Altaros shoot at 50yds, I have every intention of getting some drop data and accuracy testing to 100yds.

The U2 is my coyote calling rifle and I choose to not shoot past 75yds as I don't feel the rifle's muzzle energy is sufficient for coyote sized animals at further distance. However, if the Altaros will hold their accuracy out beyond 50yds I will have much greater confidence in my shot placement on coyote going forward.
I look forward to seeing your results 👍. Do you plan on using a down range crono to see retained energy?

No, on the Chrony. I only have one and I'm not interested enough to run the tripod down-range to get the velocity at target. As long as I can get my drops to establish a shirt-pocket drop chart I have what I need for my hunting distances. :)

At this stage of life I'm pretty boring/limited with my airgun hobby. I don't shoot any competition. If they had some airgun benchrest league close to home I would participate, but there is none close by. In my younger years I won four Oregon State shooting titles. Three in shotgun and one in archery. But, at 68 I don't have any further desire to compete in anything outside of fooling game or fish.

Fired the 250z .22 this morning. This has become one of my favorite rifles!

I was lucky and got a near perfect bore in my stock barrel. Very minor imperfections on the top of the lands where the pilot from the chamber reamer rubbed. Nothing more than faint marks on the surface of the steel.

Wind was very mild this morning. Went from still air to faintly quartering in from my right. You can see it in the location of some groups relative to the aim points.

The 250z groups as well as many rifles with much higher price tags.

I cleaned the bore on my Uragan 2 .25 so I can start fresh with my new 'batch' of Altaros 49.5s.

Saturday's for me is always about watching everything on YouTube & TV about today's Motocross & Supercross races (which I am doing now).

After starting retirement (12yrs ago) I never fish or hunt on the weekends. One of the few good things about getting old and retiring is you can do stuff during the week while the young folks are working!

Adjusted the Notos regulator from 1500-2500, shooting on the chrono every time. It was a bit tedious, unthreading the cap every time to get to the reg in the air tube. The best spot seems to be 2250-2300 psi. 15 shots 17.6 norma(835-820fps). It's a Texas sized pistol right now, haha! If I can find a replacement screw for the top pic rail I'll be able to throw a scope back on.

Edit, went back and changed the hammer spring, slightly shorter and a little stiffer. I bought some from the hardware store a while ago and forgot. Anyways with the hammer weight it likes it. I can adjust from 830-730 fps on the Norma 17.6. I got 25 shots at 790-775 fps. I only shoot it 20 yards at most so that's great.

Shot snowpeak max 1 .25, .177 Nova Liberty, Umarex Notos pistol, sk-19 during breaks putting up gutters and filling dirt around the building at my dad's country property. 25-35 yards out. I love shooting the Max 1, buttery smooth side lever, most accurate gun I have. Just hitting a metal target and a broke stanley cup. Pretty windy, 15 mph or so. Sk-19 needs gone through, barrel cleaning and see why the adjustment port doesn't seem to work. It's shooting 45 and 50.5 aea pellets 1000 plus. I've triple checked the direction to turn the power port down and I don't seem to go up or down. Just stays in the 1000-1080 fps range. It was fun for the brief time I got to shoot.

Fired my Falcon FN19 and my Daystar this morning. Wind was very light so results were satisfying.

My Falcon is my oldest air rifle. I've owned it for about 35yrs. It's the last air rifle I would ever consider selling. The FN19 .22 single shot is the only air rifle I have ever owned that shoots several similar brands and weights of pellets to the exact same POI at 38yds (my hunting zero distance).

The old Falcon will shoot JSB 15.89s, AEA 15.9s, JTS 16.08s and JSB Hades 15.89s all to the same exact spot! Not only do they all shoot to the same POI, but all four of the pellets I listed shoot so close to the same accuracy it's impossible to name a consistent winner. I mean..., one day one particular pellet will beat the others in 5-shot group competition but then the next day a different pellet will beat the others and so it goes any time I rotate through groups of each of those four different pellets.

I was reminded of what I wrote above just this morning as I was firing all four different pellets.

The FN19 has a Lothar Walter barrel that is so smooth and uniform that it seems to never need cleaning to maintain it's accuracy. I do clean it every 500-1000 shots but that's just a guess as I really don't keep track of shots between cleaning with this rifle.

Do you guys have a SINGULAR air rifle that never ceases to amaze you in one way of another?

Shot the Notos with the new monstrum ruckus 4x prism scope and I was impressed. 25 yards out it's very workable, the etched recticle illuminated or not is very clean, eye relief is real good. Only wish is it came with a lense cover. Shot probably 70-80 pellets from 15-30 yards at the orange target. Each fill gets a lil over 25 shots with h&n 15.9s at 800 or so. I do see I get a spike (830-840 fps )when the tank drops below the reg pressure and gets around 2000-1850 psi. So I think this is telling me I can tune the gun for more optimal performance. With a lighter hammer spring now and filing down part of the block behind the hammer spring adjuster. So when I drop regulator pressure I can back the spring off so it doesn't waste a bunch of air like it was doing before as I've been attempting to tuning recently.
