Rains coming here tomorrow. Today i got in about 250 shots before the weather goes south!

Like anywhere else it has its pros and cons but I have really grown to love the desert around here and you’ll never here me complain about the views haha.

I’ve been on a heater lately calling right around sunrise. I’ve called in 5 in the last 2 weeks…. Not as good as shooting them so far though haha.

Last night I did have a pair of fox cross in front of me within 50 yards and with the wind in my face I finally got a call back, from behind me lol. Next time 30-50 yards from the location and in a cross wind.

The P-Rifle and I got out today to start getting reacquainted to one another and shooting period (it's been a long and sad 2+ months). Did some Nature's KYL at 25 yards. Pinecones, peach pits, and acorns.

That’s interesting because when I call foxes in around here that usually means there aren’t any coyotes around. The coyotes bang on the gray foxes pretty bad apparently.

Yea, it's a strange location, we have bob cats, coyote and fox, but there is a price they pay,lol last winter I heard this take place. gray fox and coyote.

I'm going to check out my Sheridan. I did a little chrono work. I found with 8 pumps I got 625 fps with a 11.42 pellet. I then tried 6 pumps and it gave 225 fps. Tried it again and got 330 fps. WTH??? I decided to do the alcohol flush. I shot almost all of the alcohol out then I opened the bolt and let it sit overnight. I'm going to try the chrono testing again today. Hopefully it fixed any check valve leakage. I hope I'm not going to have to rebuild it. I know it's not that hard but the tool and kit are expensive.

Well friends this just wasn’t my weekend haha. First I came down with a little cold which sucked but at least it was while we got some rare thunderstorms from Thursday night thru yesterday. Also the mail got delayed of course so I have to wait until tomorrow to finally put the bottle mod on my EQ haha…

But this morning I was feeling better and itching to chase some sage jackals so I drove out to my spot before checking the weather. Luckily a Texas sized American Flag let me know the wind was howling by flapping to within an inch of its life …. Anyways yall I’m dumb and weather said wind was supposed to slow down so I sat in my car for a bit and then got after it.

I also wanted to test my cold weather setup… that’s what camo muff is over the gun. I just throw a hand warmer into a pocket on it and it keeps the gun surprisingly warm. It’s not perfect and doesn’t really cover the plenum or action of the gun. But I finally listened to @Pumacarl and lubed all that stuff with powdered graphite so I’m not worried about that part. I have a way of covering the plenum if needed but since the gun is all metal some of that heat is conducted so that helps. Mostly it just prevents me from carrying around a 10 pound metallic ice cube, and gives a little bit more disguise to my set up. Cover is at a premium around here so I’ll take it haha.

If you spot the coyote in these pictures that makes one of us haha. I didn’t see a darn thing besides a pissed off jackrabbit that found cover in the sage before I could throw a slug at him haha.

At least it was a really pretty morning besides the 25mph winds lol.

A little shooting yesterday at 30y while the jump box charged to start my lawnmower, i left the key on a few weeks ago.

I did order one the same day I ordered her gifts. And I spent at least double for her. I bought a budget rifle, I want to try and turn into a 30y performer.

That’s awesome… I love morning calling tbh…. At night all I get is jackrabbits and foxes I can’t shoot…hell even the raccoons are only in town and hard to find in shootable spots. They aren’t native to utah so they don’t venture far from the trash-panda lifestyle.

As for jackrabbits I love shooting them. But after the first 50 or 60 with an air rifle they don’t really get the heart racing like a coyote does haha. I bought my first pcp in January of this year and I’m close to triple digits for the year. I’ve only gone out to target them specifically one time .. they are always just around or in my town of 450 people I can just cruise around on the neighborhood and shoot them from my car. Lots of ranchers and horse people (breeders, rodeo, buckle bunnies haha) here so the jack rabbits are a genuine pest. So the locals are genuinely happy to see this Airgun dweeb with the red lights and NV merc’ing the bunnies.

My wife puts up with alot, but that would probably be my death and/or at least throw shade on my airgunning for quite some time
Shot the 30Y .177 challege with my TX200 and we did well! Lubed the chamber and the first couple shots were squirrely as expected. Then I hacked out the foam in my Ghosts case to fit the Bipod....much nicer now, I can just grab the case and its got everything inside.

Just when I thought I had coyotes figured out… they flipped the script.
Scouted a promising setup the other day—high ground, wind in my face, tucked near a wood line for cover. Blind was dialed in, so i went at night, scent-free spray and chips laid down. Temps dropped to 35° so I ran a battery-saving rhythm: call, wait 10 minutes, power up the scope, scan, shut down, wait 20, repeat.
Then I got a faint call back… from behind me.
Ten minutes later, I hear a rabbit tearing through the brush like its life depended on it—straight past the blind and into cover. I waited a bit, fired up the scope, and caught just a glimpse of the first coyote’s tail disappearing into the woods. Ten seconds later, the second one followed. I was caught flat-footed, in disbelief.
Lesson learned: once that first call goes out, it’s game on. Next time—battery bank locked in, scope hot, and no more downtime. Coyotes don’t play by our rules.

Put the one leaf nv400 back on the wildcat bt. Zeroed at 30 and ballistics checked at 55 yards. Good at those two distances which works for me. Not planning longer shots than that for squirrels. Actually most are within 30. Probably should zero a bit closer
