What'cha doing air gun related today?

Quit work yesterday at noon and the weather was beautiful (ok it was still zero degrees😂) but no wind and sunny. Busted out the HW50 and the TX200 and got a good bench session in. Got the HW sighted in nicely for 20Y and then tried the TX...it was shooting about 2 inches low...again🤦‍♂️. After lots of clicking i switched to this blue bull and shot a LOVELY 5 shot group @ 30Y with 8.44Jsbs!!
Then I did more clicking left and ruined it lol. Notice the group goes down and left...my Airmax may be on its death bed. Then I shot this can filled with water with both (6×6 on top) Holding over with irons is...interesting 🤔😅 First shot i am pointing to, second hit dead center with the HW (11-12fpe) Then as it 'bled out' I popped it with the TX(12-13fpe) and it made a slightly larger dent in the can. I think I have reached springer heaven with these two!

Been shooting quite awhile this morning and as much as I like all the different air guns I have, it's still the HW30 I reach for. I'm back at peep sights again.
Just because they are cost effective I've been using the JTS .177 wadcutters and I'm impressed, I purchased 8 tins back in November and just started using them last week. Trying standing and sitting free style. Cutting soda cans and realizing colors matter, Red ones are easier for me to see than blue ones.
Have a great day after everyone.

I've got a Crosman 1377 and a Benjamin 312....between the 2 at my age of 76 I don't think my arms would make it through 100 rounds. At least not if I pumped more than 3 pumps per shot.
I could imagine Sir! The crosman is small but it takes some pumping. Im 43 with a rotator cuff that's a lil wore out and probably will need surgery so I'll eventually rotate to the Nova Libertys I have after some work to them. I just love how accurate the Nova and Aspen are. The kids complain about the pumping more than I haha!

This 177 Zan 13gr left the Bullshark barrel at 900fps, entered the squirrel a big low. Regardless, it was an instant death as it fell from the feeder without moving. I was squatting and resting the rifle on my pellet smoker. Entered left and exited right. It was quartered away from me

I did a thorough cleaning and very light polishing of my Condor .22 slug barrel. I really like that I can switch between AVS 28.5 grain slugs at 1050 FPS and AVS 40 grain slugs at 950 FPS without having to adjust the scope at close range like 30 yards I can swap back and forth, and they will print in the same hole with either slug like I never switched. I have never been that much of a .22 air gun fan, but this gun has made me a convert. Possibly because it makes as much power as some .30 caliber air guns. I totally enjoy shooting this thing. The downside is you have to clean it more often because of the slugs unless you powder coat them. I may start doing that.

Baby girl got her new 28” custom fitted Lothar Walther barrel dropped in today. This is a 28” .30 cal (.306 bore diameter) barrel instead of the 24” stock barrel… the holes in the radial transfer port are not the same size as the stock barrel either. Beyond that it’s the same 1:16” twist as the stock but with polygonal rifling instead of traditional lands and grooves.

Initial testing shows a significant increase in power.

Starting:

61.3gr flat base slugs
@880fps
105fpe

With new barrel but everything else the same:

62gr flat base slug
@915fps
115fpe

Current, no change on regulator but more preload on hammer spring:

62gr flat base slug
@930
119fpe

ALSO:

Testing the .30cal moderator from Heartland Airguns…

Stay Tuned 😉

Shot my Texan LSS at 50 yards, trying to catch super slow motion of slug going through. First 4 shots not so good at hitting (me and 14+mph winds). Moved up to 20 yards to ensure I hit. Had a mishap that I posted separately about before last shot, but got a slow motion, just no slug in sight. Lesson learned 😅😂.

I was able to chrono today with the nice weather.

22 cal Seneca Aspen today with one of my favorite pellet baracuda 21.14s. I shot this scenario twice. The hammer spring is one full turn from all the way in on the adjustment screw, adjustment valve on high. 10 shots took 1400 psi with it turned up that high from 3500 to 2100.
1) 901 fps 3500 psi
2)890
3)894
4)874, 3100 psi
5)870
6)838
7)832 2700 psi
8)820
9)808
10)782.
I chronograph this pellet due to its accuracy out of that gun so far. I've only shot it out 30 yards but it loves em. I plan on turning down the hammer to shoot 830- 850 and be happy with that.

177 Nova freedom (I have not cleaned the barrel and I did get some fliers out of the rifle a day earlier, I'll test accuracy after I clean again. These 2 were pretty accurate so I decided to chrono them.

Hammer spring turned in 3 full rotations. 3400 -2500 psi low power 10 rounds 10.05 grain apolo.
1) 868
2)898
3)894
4)887
5)882
6)889
7)876
8)863
9)860
10)847

16 grain h & n slugs hi power 3400 - 2200

Umarex Notos stock barrel w c88 plenum, cnc plenum, c88 hammer weight, ported to 4mm all the way through.
3500 psi to 2100 for CPHP 14.3 gr. was about 25 shots from 900 fps to 875 slowly creeping down every few shots. Ruger super point 17 gr. hi fps was 830-800. Baracuda 21.14 gr ran 775-750 for the shot count. I can feel when I shoot the short barrel is the only thing slowing it down. It was a fun day. I won't have another day to chrono for a while.

Finally got out to sight in my brother's Pinty Thumper, and thump away it did. Initially at 25 yards (where we previously thought we had sighted it to) it was shooting about 10+ yards short and off to the right. I walked the shots up to within 3" confidence with my 5-in-1 target, then moved to sighter paper where I walked it the rest of the way in. Sighted and then set laser to scope, then red dot to laser. Afterwards I realized I should have started with the laser, because it was already close. 😬🤫 Also, non-AO scopes and I don't do well because of shifting parallax...
