Since the beginning, people have been asking for a Umarex Komplete PCP air rifle conversion system. And now one is available Air Venturi.

How does it perform? Let’s take a look…

As we can see, the Air Venturi PCP Conversion for Umarex Komplete comprises a black, anodized High Pressure Air tube. It’s around twice as long as one of the original NitroAir cartridges and about 3 Oz heavier. The scoped gun used in these tests weighed-in at 7 Lbs 11 oz.

The PCP conversion uses an identical screw mounting thread to that of the NitroAir cartridges. It screw directly into the Komplete.

At the other end is a standard 1/8-Inch NPT “Foster” male quick disconnect. There’s a substantial cover that screws into place to protect the connector when not being charged with High Pressure Air. Very good!

Operation is extremely simple. Screw the Air Venturi Conversion onto the Komplete, remember to shut the de-gassing screw, connect your HPA supply. Disconnect and shoot!

Well it’s nearly as easy as that but for one thing. The Umarex Komplete does not have a pressure gauge. Neither does the Air Venturi Conversion. So it’s essential that you use the gauge fitted to your HPA tank, pump or compressor so as not to overfill the gun.

For simplicity and safety, I set the automatic pressure cutoff on a portable compressor to 3,600 PSI and filled that way.

To test the Air Venturi PCP conversion, I used the same Komplete as I have for previous tests. That way we have an “apples to apples” comparison.

It’s in .177 caliber and here’s how it performed when shooting one full NitroAir cartridge in our comprehensive Hard Air Magazine test report.

As you can see from the graph above, the Umarex Komplete delivered 60 consistent shots from the NitroAir cartridge.

To test the Komplete PCP conversion, I used an identical test setup. Same gun, same range, same temperature, same chronograph, same pellets, same shooter. The only difference is that our Komplete was now shooting High Pressure Air.

Here’s the shot string. Again very consistent until the regulator set point was reached. After this the Muzzle Velocity dropped away as expected. (There’s no significance to the extra shots at the “tail” of the NitroAir graph. They just weren’t necessary for the HPA test.).

If we now combine both graphs at the same scale, we see the following. Our Komplete gave a slightly higher Muzzle Velocity when using High Pressure Air (green dots) in the PCP Conversion than it did with the NitroAir cartridge (red dots).

As all other parameters were the same, this slight difference must be due to the action of compressed air in the gun, compared to Nitrogen.

Next we’ll look at the same data but “zoom in” to part of the graph. Now we can see the differences – and similarities – more clearly.

We’ll analyze the data over 60 shots per fill. This is 5 magazines worth of pellets in .177 caliber and most people would probably re-fill at about this point if they wanted to stay on target.

When firing with High Pressure Air, our Komplete produced an average of 990.6 FPS for 60 shots. That’s an average Muzzle Energy of 18.8 Ft/Lbs in .177 caliber.

Looking at the green dots, we can see that the regulator set point was reached at about shot 50. After this point the Muzzle Velocity fell away rapidly.

Again the red dots show performance using NitroAir. As the graph makes clear, the regulator set point was reached at shot 54. After that, the FPS fell away more gradually than it did for High Pressure Air. The average of 976 FPS equated to an average Muzzle energy of 18.3 Ft/Lbs when using Nitrogen power.

Overall, the Air Venturi PCP Conversion For Umarex Komplete works well. It provided very similar performance in the test gun to using one NitroAir cartridge.

Priced at $99.99, this PCP Conversion would pay for itself after about 522 shots, compared to using NitroAir cartridges. So long as you already have the HPA charging equipment!

Here’s the calculation…
NitroAir Cartridges $22.99/pack of two. Equals $11.50 each.
$11.50 x 8.7 = $100.05. So 8.7 NitroAir Cartridges cost the same as the PCP Conversion.
At 60 “good” shots per cartridge, 8.7 x 60 = 522 shots.

So you’ll break even after about one tin of pellets when using the Umarex Komplete PCP conversion in .177 caliber. After that you’re ahead compared to shooting NitroAir cartridges. But of course the equation will be a good deal less favorable if you do not already have a hand pump, HPA tank or compressor.

Here’s yet another reason that the Umarex Komplete is the most versatile air rifle ever in terms of its propulsion capabilities. The Air Venturi PCP Conversion is yet another reason to buy a Komplete.

A very nice system all around for someone with only an occasional need. I like that they didn't put any extra guages or leak points on the cylinder too. I find it kind of interesting how much thought was put into this whole project. Somebody is on the ball at Umarex, this is a good way to lure in more pcp addicts.
 
I have two Komplete rifles, .177 and .22 caliber. I have been using Pellgun oil to lube cartridge tips in both CO2 and Nitrogen, which is an inert gas. This refillable conversion cartridge of course uses air which could detonate the residual Pellgun oil. I’m concerned about using air having already used Pellgun to keep seals happy.

I think that is a very good question that I hope an expert from Pyramyd will be able to answer.

I would also recommend using silicone oil over pellgun oil from now on.

That should clear out the oil. But as my handle suggests I have lots of airguns wanting seal exercising. Takes me about a month to get around. I shoot 10 shot groups, sometimes 2 groups, with each gun. At this rate I will have lots of time before deciding to to buy the air PCP attachment.

Yeah, I should have started out with the suitable non combustible lube. I’m so used to readily available Pellgun oil for my CO2 guns and nitrogen being enert I figured why not. I never thought I would want to convert them to air. I doubt I ever will but wanted to alert others of the potential hazard.

Timeline was never a factor that I mentioned nor is it relevant to the convo. My suggestion was only on how to remove the oil… the rest is on you my guy. I don’t care what you do with the Komplete unless you’re trying to send it to me 😂
 
Doesn't it surprise anyone that Umarex competitor Air Venturi came out with a tube to keep them from selling many of their disposable nitrogen tubes
They didn’t come up with it. There has been an HPA conversion by Inspire Precision for almost 6 months now. They are just trying to get in on some of that sweet profit. Which more power to them. I think the Komplete is wildly underrated.

Some of us predicted they'd come out with this (see other Komplete threads on Ham, lol) sooner rather than later. Doing the math, running a .22LR is cheaper per shot than running a Komplete with the nitro air system. It's also resource wasteful, silly (vs a standard air filled pcp), outright expensive if you plan to shoot it a ton, and requires you to count your shots (i suck at that😅). This upgrade is a no brainer for sure for the price! However a fill gauge is still a must for me.

The inspire precision one does have a fill gauge but a lower fill pressure I think.

As has been suggested, I would recommend running a few cartridges through the gun without any lubrication. As a reminder, I believe Umarex only recommends 100% silicone oil for use in the Komplete, so I would stick to that in the future.

For what it's worth, this was designed and tested about two weeks after the gun launched publicly. The reason it took so long to actually get to market was tariff related.

Agreed, the Komplete is a fantastic rifle all around.
 
As has been suggested, I would recommend running a few cartridges through the gun without any lubrication. As a reminder, I believe Umarex only recommends 100% silicone oil for use in the Komplete, so I would stick to that in the future.
