A new move for me has me at distances that travel by car may be to time consuming. So traveling by air will be the main method of getting to the comps. I was hoping all you clever people could share your setups and what has worked and not worked for you so I can build a setup for myself and we all can learn. Please share pictures and stories of how to get through TSA. How to deal with air when on the road. Think of this as traveling with 2 guns, ammo, tools, front rest and anything else you have found to be of use on the road.

Thanks :)

If you don't already have one, buy a higher end TSA approved case. They are hard on rifle cases. We had a stock broken and a scope bent traveling by air. This was partly our fault as we had over packed the case.

We always put our ammo in our checked bag separate from the rifle.

Make sure everything is completely degassed.

I have never been to a competition that did not have air available. Some provide tanks, others fill bottles, and some do both.

Would you suggest removing scopes and tanks, possibly barrels so the gun can be packaged in the case safer and more secure?

From all i have learned on this subject i think its best to use pirate ship to ship everything the airport would be a pain with to aoa or utah wherever you are going first more secure and insured. Then you have less to carry at the airport also
