Ghost Struggling to get good enough 100 yard accuracy.

Of all the guns I've shot at 100 yards, the .25 is my least favorite. I can shoot my RAW .177 at close to MOA (not always). and my 22 and 30 cal Impacts. Pellets are very sensitive to wind, so if there's a little breeze, then the groups will spread out. I don't see too many people shooting 25s at EBR.

Think the .30 is popular for EBR?

Seems to be. The .22 is a good choice too. Don't forget, it's up to you, the shooter, to make it work. You just can't spend big bucks on a rifle and expect it to perform miracles. You need to develop your load and practice a lot. Use the same rifle and don't switch back and forth to others. Takes work.

I think 25 is a very good caliber all around. The pellet is large enough to have a good size transfer port, you can easily get similar but slightly less velocity power and trajectory to a 22 lr without having to push a 22 pellet or slug so hard. My first practice card at pa cup last year was a 224 with my 25 ghost i just wasn’t prepared for the wind conditions after that. Most of the guys shooting 30 now are doing so because of new pellets providing a bc of .07 and because mrds are so unreliable. To me the biggest problem right now is inconsistent ammo, the guns are more accurate than the ammo at this point.

Not now, because of what others have mentioned about pellet consistency and improvement to 30 cal, but it’s a capable round.
I know it’s a decade ago, but the root message of how he prepared is crucial. I have no doubt an exceptional shooter could win with 25 now.

The reason I went back to .25cal is because the new MRDs are so crappy, but when sorted they shoot amazing. The .25 cal 33 grainers will shoot amazing at 100. I’ve done it with other platforms in the past.

I got guns no matter the ammo , work on it or whatever they just can't do well past xamount yards . Take that gun for a example you could gleen ammo , polish, clean ,tune whatever and never get there with it .. it's a fine line between tinkering and getting somewhere and beating a dead horse. ..

Typical groups with my Ghost HP first 2 months I had it with Mrds @ 50 Yards.

Please post some pictures of the groups (good and bad) so we can see what is going on. Do you have a group (pellets touching or close) or are they just scattered? Are the groups spread vertical or horizontal? Try some 10 shot groups and see if you have some consistency.

Another thing to try is removing the moderator Inspect it to make sure nothing is clipping. Then shoot without it to see if it changes anything.

Lastly, try and watch the flight of the pellet through your scope. Sometimes you can watch the pellet spiral or fly like a curve ball. This usually points to pellet damage (clipping or burrs in the barrel).

What changed? I got a good bipod, eliminated cant, and got a rock solid shooting position now! .....Mrds will generally beat out .25 pellets longer range (minis them fliers!!!) and are on paper better, ballistically speaking if I'm not mistaken. I hope to get my good and consistent for 75Y and in hunting with Mrds till slug barrels available. I have to believe it is the barrel at fault as @Franklink was saying. And no its not me or wind, I grouped all my guns same time and Ghost lost bad. I cleaned it recently and got good groups again (but poi was waaaaaay off) well now a few 50? pellets later crud accuracy again. It HAS to be barrel fouling. I will definitely report on the barrel cleaning. All polishing supplies are en route. I don't group to 100Y but I feel like....1.5/2 inches is not bad at all for pellets!!

Well, I’ve been tuning a BRK Ghost in .25cal for extreme benchrest. The numbers are great, but the accuracy down range isn’t. I’ve been shooting the 33 grainers from 880-930 with about the same results. Some speeds are worse than others. Oddly enough the FX branded 33 grainers shoot the best, but not nearly enough to be competitive.

I’m thinking a barrel polish is the next step. I noticed rust in the barrel when just using a pull through. Any tips would be awesome!

Yeah barrel polishing is a mildly scary endeavor! Have never done it... My JB bore paste that I just got says you can't ruin your barrel using this product but then some will say don't over do it, you could wreck your barrel I will start with pushing a pellet through and polish barrel end to end and then work on any tight spots and the choke end. Maybe tomorrow!

Not even! I probably have 500 pellets through my Ghost now since getting it in March. Many many more through my AA guns.

I think thats the best way to proceed and don’t worry too much cause that stuff is pretty fine I’ve seen some guys really go at it with that stuff. Just push a pellet for your guide.

We have a few 's at the house and each one shot much better with a light polish job. There is a lot of gunk in the barrel when delivered to you and I mean nasty gunk to protect the inside of the barrel during shipping. A good cleaning is needed, and yes I use a brass brush on my first cleaning.

Pull a patch with your favorite cleaner on it and after a few of those feel free to hit the barrel with the brass brush and run another wet patch through....That patch will be nasty dirty.....

Everybody has "their" way of cleaning a barrel. After brass brush and a few wet patches I will polish the barrel lightly, reclean and shoot a group. If I am not happy with the 50 yard group I will clean and lightly repolish and try again.

Nice! That's with the 33gr pellets you sending outta it good sir?! I got my .22 HP on a strict diet of 25.39 lubed pellets ONLY now and it is insane again. Good barrel polish and spaced shroud off properly and bang on. It groups tight to 80Y so I'm happy. As @Solo1 stated only thing holding it back now is Mrd fliers and the odd time me
