Sidewinder S Compact Pest Control

For several months now I have been field using the New Western Airguns Sidewinder S Compact in .25 caliber. Airguns Of Arizona sent me this gun to be able to use out in the field and be able to document some of my experience with it through my video work. I have spent some time with almost the entire line of Western Airguns I have to say this might be my next favorite to the .357 Rattler for serious pest eradication. This model has an overall length of 26.5", has a 17" TJ Enterprises barrel and weight is 6.5lbs. The gun I received out of the box was shooting the 33gr Rangemasters at 905, super-hot at just about 60 fpe. For my use around the farm and to conserve some shots, I turned the gun down to shoot the 25gr to 900 fps, making about 45 fpe. Here is my experience in using the gun out on the farm, I have been getting much better and hope to be back to full sprint in another few weeks.

He had to have juiced up he place. Then you went and filmed next to him like you smelled nothing. You sir deserve a . Thanks for your honesty. I too think the compact is an ugly gun. What's the lowest fpe that you can effectively adjust the .25 Sidewinder compact to? I also wanted to ask, have you tried an NV unit using 940nm IR illuminator? If not, that should help to eliminate the animals being cued by the red glow from the 850nm IR.

Thanks, I don't think you would get much lower than 40 fpe unless you wanted to lower the regulator. I'm not sure how well the gun would function as they tend to have a good range at 140/150 bar. I've not tried one of those, currently I'm getting yanked around by a few scope manufacturers so not sure what I'll be using in coming months. Most of these companies want to loan out products for free promotional video work and then have me return the product. For some reason I guess the requirement for running a scope company is flakiness.

one year we shot 20 plus sunks and we never had a one let out the gas bomb

only their time counts. but they will buy print wich is less effective.

I asked about the lower end of the power range because I was wondering how a Sidewinder in .22 could be adjusted down for ratting or starling eradication within a barn. It’s convenient to have the option of adjusting it on the fly without having to make regulator adjustments.

You aren’t the first airgunner/YouTuber that has shared the practice of manufactures and/or vendors send gear and pressuring you all to film and return a product that they would like demoed in your videos. If any of them are reading, I think this is a ridiculous practice considering how some of these products will be used. Let these folks have a unit to work with long-term providing potential customers with real world long-term use in realistic and relative scenarios. If the reviewer or YouTuber doesn’t regularly do the type of videos that would warrant long-term use then to me it appears that you’re seeking a shill and a person like myself will look past that reviewer and your product. Just about all of my digital optics were purchased after seeing other airgunners or hunters use the same product long-term and they have mostly held up well long-term after I purchased mine. One had an issue and the warranty took care of the faulty unit. I was grateful for that.

Honestly I can count on one hand the number of reviewers I trust and guess what that’s Dana I’ve made several purchases (Brocock Ranger, Tactacam stuff….) after seeing him use products long term. Continue keeping it real and don’t say “fluff”

Yeah the .22 I think is more suited to safely shooting inside buildings, definitely under 20 fpe. Ive used heavier calibers before but it needs to be a very controlled environment and typically it's inside buildings that have poor structural integrity to begin with. Even still I worry to much for the liability factor of damages. I have in the past accidentally fractured water pipes that puts things on hold and is quite embarrassing. As far as companies go I'm completely upfront, most want stupid unboxing videos...uggg id rather stick my head in a badger den than make one of those. I explain to them that my work can take up to three months as it does take time to gather enough footage to make an actual real review. Aside from that the cost of my fuel, 20k worth of camera and editing gear and the knowledge to produce and edit into a 4k video. Then when it comes to cost, it doesn't matter what you charge the response is always we don't have that much of a budget. I turn them down and then months later they realize the kind of work they got for free. Thankfully I have been treated very well by several manufacturers and distributors that are very understanding and supportive to my work. My challenge is trying to fish out interesting new products that add value to my channel to help it grow, not just any hunk of crap someone wants to send.
