Huntsman Revere FT rifle journey

Your new setup looks amazing, @Lee unsworth (y) :)🎯

Thanks neighbour. Just waiting on a couple of parts to complete the look and practicality that I am going for . One part is a custom machining job that may be put into production and available so will keep you updated. Really looking forward to the test run on Sunday see how the rifle stacks up against dedicated ft rigs . May take me a few shoots to settle into the new scope and rifle

@Lee unsworth Lee, little disappointed trying to fit the Rowan trigger I received today. Pin wont go through hole (would need to hammer in versus snug but pushable on original) and why 3 screws on the new one. What is extra (middle) screw for; it is wound out in your picture and not mentioned in instructions. Reached out to Dave @ Rowan as had to abort fit.

Don’t hammer. lower both the grub screws

After a long day at the range testing various batches of jsb 8.44 pellets although accurate sub 20mm groups at 55 yards I knew the revere had more to give . I then tested rangemaster sovereign hunter 10.33grain and these QYS domed and wow 4-5mm group’s consistently but the rangemaster definitely had the edge and will be my pellet of choice for the season . I like tinkering and testing so i will be delving more into the QYS offerings as I am intrigued to try the range of sample packs my local gun shop gave me to try . Next Sunday is the first shoot of the season and I am buzzing

Daystate revere CR2 ft journey

Season start round 1

Today’s first round of ft . The weather was dry with strong to moderate swirling wind that was very very tricky to get a gauge on . The revere sat in the cr2 was extremely well balanced and comfortable. The rifle was extremely consistent all the way throughout the competition and a few wind errors on my behalf cost me a few targets . Must practice a little more on the standers 😁 but not bad for first outing . The sightron s3 was making ranging very easy with no problems at all …. Few tweaks over the next few weeks before round 2.. all in all extremely happy with the revere/cr2 combination this is going to be a good season

Hi, I've been following this thread for a while before joining this great group. Your rifle looks stunning and it has been very interesting following your progress as you shape that Revere into the rifle which fits your personal needs. That stock looks great on the Revere action and I have found the trigger blade swap pictures and your explanation of it very useful as I recently purchased a Daystate Genus which has a very similar action to the extent that it will drop straight into the same stocks as are made for the Revere.

I like the Laminate stock which is standard on the Genus and the whole concept of it being a 40th anniversary rifle. However I bought the rifle to enjoy and not keep locked away for the sake of owning it and have looked at the Form fully adjustable Chieftain in the same colour as your stock to fit to my action and like yourself I would prefer the trigger to be more like the one you have fitted to your Revere and will likely do the same swap with one from Rowan engineering.

Aside for the stock and trigger blade I will not mess with my Genus beyond that as the stock and trigger blade swaps can put back to original in next to no time without having to interfere with anything else. I'm just going to study my trigger block a little more and make further comparisons to your really useful images to establish it is exactly the same unit and then I'll order one. I also figure that dropping mine onto a Form stock will not only make it more FT/target orientated but I can then keep the original stock pristine so that my limited run Genus can easily be put back to how was when it left the Daystate factory.

Just a quick question, I noticed the single shot tray you have installed looks different to others I've seen. Is it one you have had made?

I wish you every success with your Revere and admire your passion for the sport and the way you are working through the transition of getting your rifle where you need it to be.

All the best

Hi Lee, could you post a picture of the underside of the stock in the action? I’m interested how the gauge is visible given the action sites higher in the CR2 than in the standard stock? Is it a longer stock screw as well?

Hi Tim thanks very much for your interest and post on my revere cr2 journey. The chieftain stock is also a very well balanced and more suitable stock without the risk of damaging your limited edition one . The trigger unit is for me a must upgrade and have also asked the team at daystate to re produce the trigger units . The single shot tray is totally standard one that comes with the revere and also available separately from daystate . Hopefully you can also set your rifle up so it’s more usable without the risk of damaging anything. I have a few more small modifications I’m awaiting from engineering and will update as I go

Regards
Lee

No problem at all I have just got home and will do that for you now . It utilises the standard revere stock bolt

You can see the gauge location just behind the rear hamster post 👍🏻

How is your trigger blade now after installing? True transformation I think
