The new SIG MPX PCC air rifle is now available. It’s a regulated PCP with styling notes from the powder-burning 9mm MPX PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine). As with most other SIG airguns, the PCC is intended as a realistic training tool, as well as being a fun plinker!
The airgun appears to be a development from the SIG MCX Virtus PCP. It uses a rear-mounted HPA tank that’s filled to 3,000 PSI and regulated down to 1,100 PSI for shooting. Both models are available in .22 caliber only.
Compared to the Virtus, the MPX PCC offers an increased power level of up to 16 Ft/Lbs, compared to a spec of 12 Ft/Lbs for the previous model. That’s the difference between Muzzle Velocities of 700 and 600 FPS with the same 14.5 Grain pellets.
Another big benefit is to be found in the trigger pull weight. SIG claims that the PCC features a new mechanism which reduces trigger pull weight to just under 4lbs. That’s a HUGE reduction compared to the Virtus tested by HAM, where the pull weight went as high as 10 Lbs 8 Oz!
Associated with the reduced trigger pull weight is a new pellet-feeding system. This comprises an eight-round rotary magazine, rather than the 30-round belt feed of the Virtus. Two additional mags can be kept loaded in the magazine box, for a total of 24 rounds available onboard.
Another improvement compared to the Virtus PCP is the incorporation of a more sophisticated, adjustable buttstock which fits around the 213 cc HPA bottle. This will almost certainly provide a superior cheek weld for the user.
The SIG MPX PCC air rifle includes a long top Picatinny-style rail for mounting optics. A set BUIS open sights are supplied with the gun.
Multiple M-LOK slots are incorporated in the sides and underside of the forend. These enable a variety of accessorie to be attached; including bipods, grips, lights and lasers.
