The Texan .308 (THE CANON) is about to get an upgrade with a bigger valve transplant.

Do you have a jeep wrangler? If so get you a pintle mount , set that on it! It would look great!

I use to have one that I fixed up, loved that thing, but the wheel base was too short to drive safely on winter roads, and there wasn't enough room for my airgun stuff. The new longer 4 door Rubicons or the Gladiator would be optimal and amendable to a pintle mount. It sure would look cool rolling up on one to a big bore airgun match! Heavily customized of course.

“Why the camo if it’s on a tripod by a brick wall?” Easy—because coyotes don’t pose for pictures in my garage. The camo’s for when the wall turns into brush and the bench turns into boots. This setup doesn’t just blend in, it sends invitations to regret.

Specs:

• Texan .308 with polished barrel and Mad Dog stock
• DonnyFL Yokozuna keeping things civilized
• Limbsaver X-Ring for vibration control
• External reg feeding from a 4500 psi CF tank
• Working toward 990 fps with 150gr slugs using a Trajectron valve (spring swaps already dialed)
• Camouflage by yours truly, because performance should look lethal too

If you catch this rig against a brick wall, take the photo fast—next stop is the field, and coyotes don’t do second takes.

Photography is all about contrast and lighting, so is camo. The first pic I took of the TalonP was with a flash and it looked bright blue. The picture above was taken in natural light and represents the actual look pretty well. Plus I try to use the same backrounds as a frame of reference. Don't worry, they get shot. I was just out checking zero with them and they were still dead nuts. The TalonP was still not completely dry yet either and it's been a week. I'll have to leave it for another.

The humidity and or rain most definitely extend the drying time. It was the bane of my existence when I was duracoating. Humidity could make the duracoat cloudy if it was to high. And cloudy H&K black just sucks.

Oh yeah! A very wet, humid, and hot year for NH so far. We had a 13 or 14 week stretch where every Saturday rained. Now it is just plain ol' hot and humid, and we're supposed to get another heat wave this week.

I have had it inside, and now I have a fan on it. Sometimes the paint just takes time and this is one of those times. I have tried hair dryers, and sunlight, but both can mess with the cure. The best way is to start my wood stove and place the gun where it is in the picture, up against the bricks, but that's not happening now either. I just ordered a small light that I am going to paint for it too, so I'll be waiting anyway. I found one small enough to fit under the front of the scope on the rail, that I can recharge from the side. There is no room there for a bottom or rear charging port. I need just a bright enough light to light up the eyes of critters, and the one I got should work ok.

So far, I have been lucky with drying times, the Texan is on its final coat to completely drying will be Mon 6pm and the AEA challenger 357 is on its 24 hr paint drying time and then on to the 72 hr matte. I did spray them outside but after gassing i brought them in the AC and fans..

It is the gun in post #14 above, it won't look any different, it will just be dry. That picture is a really good one, the light is perfect, that is what it looks like. I find it hard to take good pictures on my cellphone. It is only the soft rubber on the bolt knob that hasn't dried at this point. Must be an incompatible chemistry.
