The weather is full hot now so it is time to stop putting off painting. Once again, I have no idea what I'm going to do, just that I am going to do something. I put the paint on really light anyway, I don't want it to last, just change it up for a while. I am doing my TalonP, and will re-hit my 250z(maybe) along with the 0dB moderator and the scope. I have never painted a scope before, but it's time to just say the hell with it. I can't move my scope around from the 250z because of the off spacing of the two piece picatinny rail, so it's tied to that gun anyway. For the TalonP I decided that I am going to take off the Nikon 3x, which isn't really enough scope for how accurate the gun is, and put on my Discovery 2-12xHD.

I got really lucky with how good the 250z came out the first time, and I doubt the TalonP will look near that good, but it's something to try. It's a little bit crazy, but I don't decide things until the last second, if I try to plan out something that takes any kind of artistry, it always fails huge, unless I practice a lot, which I'm not going to do in this case either. I'm just screwing around.

Since the TalonP will be my truck gun, I want the asphalt color mostly, so I am going with a gray primer base. I will hit some parts with a light green and maybe a third lighter color. I am trying to come up with a way to minimize the crazy look of the angles and points on the frame using color. For that reason, I will leave the gun assembled, on the tripod, in the sun, when I paint it.

I will post pics of the results this weekend.

I did a rattle can paint job on a Hawke 4x scope. It turned out well and I was able to remove it. That scope came with a sun shield so I installed that and backed the inside with cotton balls.
This was an after a few years and I removed some of the paint. When it was on my 10/22 it was fully painted. Many phones ago so I don’t have photos on this device. I painters taped the parallax. When it was freshly painted I did the work once it was already mounted in a 1 piece ring mount.

Now all the paint has been removed

Well, I have a 3x9x32 Simmons around my gun room someplace that I taped up the ends too, and fully 3 color woodland cammo'd up I was gonna snap a picture of and send ya. I did it back when I was bootleg duracoating . Course can't find it now. Mighta thrown it away.. figures. But I DID find a brand new unused still in bag brass slip on muzzle brake for crosman 2240, with all its brass grub screws!

You guys are brave, anything I’ve ever painted to improve its appearance, has ended up being a train wreck lol.
Ahhh, you will do fine. Just remember to degrease it first. I like brake parts cleaner. Lol. Wipe it down good, tape it up and go to it. It is easier if you have an airbrush though, or one of the spray fittings that go on the can with a trigger, they like 2 bucks at wallyworld if you don't have one . And put down your lightest color as basecoat 1st.
Sorry. I did literally hundreds of these things when duracoat first came out. So many it became Not fun anymore, so I quit.

I got bored w/ the all black of my Stoeger Ranger(s) .22 & .25, so I did stock removal and applied a 3 color combo to the cheek piece , barrel shroud,& stock. I left the scope & action factory stock. I did a reverse theme on them to be a bit different .

lol, I’ve done a lot of airbrushing. Until I got into PCPs,all of my rifles have been nicely blued

The key, like everything painting, is to go light with spraying. Expect it to be out of commission for a few days.
Yup, gotta be patient, give her a couple days to dry. That is very important if you want color to stick. My advice is hide it from yourself in a closet leaned against the wall so your not tempted

Excellent! Don't need to give you any tips then. Do you have any light sticky paper you can make templates out of? Lol, that stuff makes it so easy. Like I said earlier, you will very fine. You already got all the knowhow!
