This is with out a doubt the best 22 slug combo i have ever had the pleasure to shoot. It shoots fairly easily and for sure is more accurate than i.There’s some tight groups there.
Im so glad you got it setup so well! Those groups are really nice. This is with out a doubt the best 22 slug combo i have ever had the pleasure to shoot. It shoots fairly easily and for sure is more accurate than i.

That sounds awesome! Show'em how they should have built it. Machinist is so much cooler than shade tree tinkerer like I am. You picked the right hobby for your skill set! Imagine what you'll be doing when you get bored, I can't even begin to imagine it. The world's your oyster!View attachment 22606
These are now available for purchase for those that are interested. I have mine on the way.
PLANS:
So after much deliberation I’ve decided I’m gonna set aside future .357 plans and I’m gonna go all in on the DRS.
Specifically, I’m gonna build a 150fpe DRS. With the transfer port I’ll have that and the slug power kit sorted. Apparently the tungsten hammer is only 14grams the heavy Huma brass one is 14.2grams.
The main thing is I’m gonna convert it to an 800mm barrel. Specifically the 800mm solid barrel…. I’m gonna machine my own shroud/air tank. It’s actually not hard because that diameter tube is pretty standard. I’m gonna make mine out of 7075-T6 and drop the Huma regulator in it so I will be able to fill to 250Bar+ and set the reg above 170Bar since the Huma goes up to 200Bar. All the tube needs is to be cut to the right length and threaded.
Do I need to do it? Nope. Haha but it’s too much fun to play with these things. I have yet to own a gun that I haven’t modified and I’m not in the mood to make a whole new stock adapter to make my own bottle mod.
800mm will increase air capacity to 355cc
It’s so funny because neither machining nor airgunning was on my dance card 10 years ago. That sounds awesome! Show'em how they should have built it. I think you’re probably right… I also should have said it’s not a complaint. The reg is rock solid so I have no complaints.I think some if it has to do with the constant reduction of overall pressure
I really am not impressed with the huma. In my gun the amp worked just as well and the straight slot in the huma means i have to remove the fore stock to adjust. The hex in the amp makes that unnecessary.I think you’re probably right… I also should have said it’s not a complaint. The reg is rock solid so I have no complaints.
Eventually I will put in the Huma reg but I’m not in a rush.
Oh that’s really good to know! My main draw was the extra 30bar of top end but it sounds like there’s some serious drawbacks to that.I really am not impressed with the huma. In my gun the amp worked just as well and the straight slot in the huma means i have to remove the fore stock to adjust. The hex in the amp makes that unnecessary.
I was actually thinking of polishing the amp and putting it back in.

Good shooting!Just a highlight reel from yesterday.
Pro tip: For bigger critters the hex slugs over-expand if you shoot them too fast. Unless you’re shooting pest birds I recommend keeping them between 880-920fps.
Final shot is moving up to a 52gr patriot javelin and I liked it much better.
The Hex slug is a magnificent slug and won’t cost you a lot of air to shoot. I was testing to see their performance at about 1000fps and the result was….”just go heavier.”

I have 5 FX rifles, three of which had leaks through the reg. On one, I replaced the old reg with a new AMP reg and the other two, I rebuilt the regs including new O rings in the block. They work fine. As these get older, (and mine were old), the O rings get brittle and stick or leak. New O rings that are correctly lubed work just fine.I have mixed emotions about the Amp2 vs Huma. On the Panthera MKII the Huma reduced the refresh rate a little. There was no other obvious benefit. On the other hand, being able to adjust down without degassing is nice and based upon the regulator position, using an “L” hex wrench makes way more sense.
