I picked up a new Cricket II tac 45 .177 from AOA for my birthday šŸŽ 🄳.

It has a choked CZ barrel and is amazingly accurate with JSB Exact Heavy 10.34gr right out of the box.

Magazine indexing system did give me a little bit of a hard time until it was finally broken in.

I had already watched several videos on the little magazine lever long before receiving this Airgun and that wasn’t the issue.

I only complain about that lever and the cocking action as well is that it’s vague and harsh absolutely the opposite of my Taipan.

There is a spring loaded pin that resides underneath the magazine when installed it keeps the magazine in the proper sequence working in combination with the ratchet paw.

That spring was very robust not allowing the magazine to completely index, and the pellet probe would jam, but I manually worked the magazines several (50-60) rotations each to help break things in and since I’ve had no more issues.

I also kind of want to adjust the first stage of the trigger just slightly, it is barely perceptible to me. The break is excellent, though.

With a 300bar šŸ˜‰ fill it gets roughly 200 shots, 20+fpe.

If anyone is interested AOA has just one left, a HAM discount gets you close to $1k it’s pretty hard to find a bad review of this rifle, Sub 12 airgunners spoke highly of it. I think that even @wolfmangreg would agree šŸ˜†.

sweet I been eyeing those but just cant seem to make myself pull the trigger.
if I did I would have the face the wife, she scares me.
I understand, mine isn’t too happy right now with the compressor going bad and needing a replacement.

I had high hopes for something larger but a compromise was made for me šŸ˜‚.
I had no ground to stand on when I was informed of my other birthday present a new truck šŸ˜.

Congrats on the new gun sir! A high power .177 always interests me (yes 20fpe in .177 is still powerful to me lol) as a bird pesting rig. Long bomber shots i still prefer my .22guns but if I set up on my fruit trees a pcp like that would be perfect.
And 200 shots is amazing, could always just fill to 250B and probably get well over 100 still?

You dont suppose that 300B fill is what did the compressor in do you?😵....iirc you haven't had it too long? Bad timing for sure, but I think it may be time to step up in quality if you can't get warranty? Break out the Ham points!

Thanks Dan šŸ‘. I definitely agree with you that it would make an excellent rig for pest birds.

I filled it once to 260bar shot it down to 170 and was attempting to refill it to roughly the same but at roughly 200 bar the compressor began to knock.

I was using that CS2 GX compressor well beyond its intended use. That’s on me, even if was under warranty.

I did cash in some more HAM points and had quick plans for a new Hill. I called AOA about the back order lead time (April), Lauren said that they have the new JTS COMP100 in stock but not yet listed on the website.

That looked to be a winner, but my wife hadn’t yet told me of my big birthday present and I ended up having to go back to GX for a less expensive but more capable pump for the time being.

I will still use my HAM points before too long. I need parts for the Wolverine and definitely .177 pellets maybe a much needed bipod for the Cricket.

It’s a lot of fun to shoot, I plan on trying out those JSB mk3 slugs that @Pumacarl raves about when I make my next PA order. If they can hold together at 20-30y I will consider that a win.
Those MK3 do look interesting. Seems to a larger hollow point opening, almost like those mythical Halo slugs I heard so much about (note - FX, at IWA, states those are coming to market in 2026). I wish JSB would manufacture .22 MK3s, but, alas, that seems to be a pipe dream as well.

Happy Birthday! So, a wonderful wife, an awesome new air rifle and a new truck?!? Nice! As a drugged up Charlie Sheen once said in an interview ā€œWinning!ā€
