Others Mark 1 curiosity, any ideas?

For the knowledgeable of old crossman or any one else. Some of you may know that I recently got the part to fix my Crosman Mark 1 pistol. I went through several co2's yesterday and found something I hadn't noticed before. The number 53 inside a box stamped into the frame. The only thing I can think of is maybe an inspectors stamp. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Never saw that. My guess would be the stamp from one of the old official repair stations. They used to provide a list of them with a new gun.

I tried finding info on Mac1 Airguns. From what I gather, his web site is no longer available. Some one said that he was in an accident, did not give detail on it but did say yhat a new website was being worked on.

Ok, thanks that's a possibility, I know I was around 10 years old when my dad bought it for me but I don't remember if it was new or used.

I have a Mark I that does not have any marks there.
I also have a Mac1 LD that has a 13 stamp in that spot.

Maybe Roamin Greco1 is right, that it is a repair person or repair location stamp
