Introductions I may be new here but I'm a huge deal on Airgun Nation. ;-)

Hi Everyone,

I'm Gerod from AZ and I’ve only ever shot PCP air rifles. If I ever get the chance to try a really nice springer or gas piston, I’d jump at it—I’d love to see how the do. I am very excited to see the slug development going on and hope they come out with a liner for DW soon.

My Arsenal

I have three air rifles, and I love each of them for different reasons, but you will see me on hear crying about them breaking down from time to time. Here’s the lineup:

  • Daystate Delta Wolf in .30
  • FX Whisper T12 in .22
  • Hammerli Pneuma in .22

Optics

DNT 7-35x56
DNT Thermight 265 R, and I’m a huge fan of both.

Where I Shoot and Chat

Airguns of Arizona (AoA):

You’ll probably catch me harassing everyone at AoA at somepoint. I’m a big fan of their business, to the point that if my wife catches me going there, she confiscates my wallet. But that is why Jesus invented google pay. I’m pretty sure that’s in the Good Book somewheres.

Rio Salado:
I also shoot at Rio Salado on Tuesday/Wednesday nights during air rifle practice. It’s one of the coolest places to have fun with great people. I started going there in November and I will be back this month, January 2025 and as often as I can.

YouTube:
I’ve started uploading some videos to a YT channel, ArkenAsylum. I was kind of an Arken fanboy for a while, I will change the name eventually. It’s a tiny channel. You probably can’t even find it, but it features some fun backyard target gallery content with my buddies Rob and Adam, plus Adam’s nephew Brix, same age as my son. Expect more videos soon— I also have a furry obsession, oooh, maybe that’s what I will rename my YT chan, thoughts? It’s a little urban hunting ground where ferals run in packs like it’s Mad Max, let’s just say I will be turning off the GPS data on those vids because the location I have found is a UNICORN.

It's legal to shoot
I have permission to shoot
It is pretty urban but still has 300 yards+ shots and even safe backstops.
Videos to come!

Goals
  • Marksmanship:
I want to improve extreme long-range accuracy and precision from the bench. I’m also interested in NRL-style barricade stages since I came from 3 gun, improving DOPE note taking, estimating range, and—most importantly— learn to read the wind better.
  • Teaching:
My 10-year-old son is already showing some aptitude. He can work a bolt quickly, fix problems on the fly, while holding steady on natural point of aim. I didn’t teach him to go fast, he just wants to burn it down. It's pretty fun. I’ve had some recent success getting other kids his age into shooting sports. I would like to keep that going.
    • Teach the kiddo the lifelong art of blaming the farts on the dog and blaming farts for the fliers.
    • Perhaps place in a match in 2025.
Current Projects

  1. Dueling Gallery:
I’m finishing a dueling gallery. I just need to buy enough metal plates to save my block wall from further destruction. The video of this setup is going to be epic.
  2. Delta Wolf Repair:
I bought my Delta Wolf used from a trusted source, but whoever sold it to them was a turkey. It looks absolutely flawless, but after replacing, updating and upgrading everything, I'd spent more than the gun. I finally learned enough about the gun to realize the chronograph was basically glued together and glued down with epoxy and it just spits random speeds. No wonder the gun never settles. I just found this out today, so I’ll be taking it in for repairs tomorrow. Expect posts about this adventure soon.
  3. Pneuma Restoration:
I want to fix the Pneuma so my son can practice with iron/open sights. We recently tiger-striped it and adjusted the length of pull for him, but then both air cylinders gave out on the same day wth? It looks amazing, though, so that’s something. I’ll post some photos.
  4. Off-Hand Shooting for My Son:
Seriously a Mordax is one of the only guns with a short enough length of pull and light enough that I can teach a kid off hand and practical shooting. So its not that I WANT to buy that one its that I NEED it. That and a wide FOV 3x or 5x prism scope to help my son transition from bench/prone to off-hand shooting. It’s a big maybe for 2025 but we’ll see.
  5. FX Whisper Upgrade:
I’m toying with the idea of adding a regulator and power plenum to the FX Whisper. Apparently that can be done, I’m not too afraid to break things to learn as long as it was a reasonable attempt and I see you guys have a whole section for modding. It's because I’d really like to get into how to work on air rifles. That’s a whole other discipline but I still want to try it.
Glad to Be Here
