Oh you have to try the trigger on an anschutz 9015. All you have to do after the solid stop at 1st stage is think about it going off and the shot is gone! Best triggerive ever experienced! They truly do! I owned so many airguns but never had a better trigger then the one on the Evol.
I have 3 Evols (2 Tac versions, 1 Paradigm) and all the triggers are the same at around 8 to 9 ounces according to my Lyman digital gauge. They all came that way straight from the factory. I'm not sure if Tom is the only one that adjust them before AoA receives them. Consistency is a good thing for quality control.Afterwards I realized that I didn't think about the trigger too much, which is a good thing. I was conscious of it due to all the remarks about it being light pull. Over coffee this morning I decided that it maybe was not as light as I expected, but was certainly nice enough that I didn't want to change it. By my scale it breaks at eight ounces, every time. That'll do.![]()
I'll keep that in mind if I need another one to get this one back from the Mrs. Currently running the 25.39 @923 around 1850 on the reg.I added the Evol 27cc plenum extension to my Evol 15 .22 and it really bosted the power on the same reg setting. I'm shooting JTS 18.1g averaging 973fps. JTS 23.95s are averaging 861 fps. My reg is set at 2k. The gun is a pleasure to shoot and always easy to take hunting.
I'm looking forward to hearing more about the testing, and how many shots you get on the reg with the MRD's at that speed.Magazine has arrived! Let the testing begin.
What does the plenum extension look like?I added the Evol 27cc plenum extension to my Evol 15 .22 and it really bosted the power on the same reg setting. I'm shooting JTS 18.1g averaging 973fps. I'll let you know. I had a senior moment and earlier reported a preliminary figure that was inaccurate. I forgot that I had put some air in it while waiting for the magazine to arrive. Sorry fellas. I deleted it, but wanted to to let you know what happened. I did mange to shoot three mags, and still be on the regulator from a 250 bar fill. We get a warm day, and I'll run it up to 275, and sit down with a tin.I'm looking forward to hearing more about the testing, and how many shots you get on the reg with the MRD's at that speed.
Thanks!
It's basically an aluminum tube with o-ring groove for a nice percentage increase in power. What does the plenum extension look like?
I'm curious to see how it looks becasue I don't see how a tube extension would work with the cutout in the gauge block at the end of the air tube. Extending the tube would bring it into contact with the moderator, right???It's basically an aluminum tube with o-ring groove for a nice percentage increase in power.
Gotcha, thanks! That makes total sense.goes inside the tube so less air in the tube more in front of the reg thus plenum extention
Well, I made it through 4 magazines on a 275 bar fill. Didn't make it past 45 shots though. Cold morning so I'm sure the pressure was dropping fast.I'm looking forward to hearing more about the testing, and how many shots you get on the reg with the MRD's at that speed.

That’s pretty sweet! Thanks for the updateWell, I made it through 4 magazines on a 275 bar fill. Didn't make it past 45 shots though. Cold morning so I'm sure the pressure was dropping fast.
I just couldn't wrap my head around this trigger being 8oz, so I ordered an electronic trigger gauge. Measuring a bit heavier trigger the electronic one, and my old spring gauge agreed on the weight. When I measured the EVOL trigger it came out 10oz, but consistent as could be. Still ok, we will leave it there. I suspected the spring gauge was not as accurate on the low end of things. She has given me good service for nearly thirty years.Afterwards I realized that I didn't think about the trigger too much, which is a good thing. I haven't measure any of mine but I don't think any are 10 oz? I at least to me feel like a lot lessI just couldn't wrap my head around this trigger being 8oz, so I ordered an electronic trigger gauge. Very interesting information. I have been working with match triggers mostly for pistols while competing for several decades. I have had some very limited experience with the rifles. I will say that your rifles have the best air gun triggers that I have experienced outside of 10 meter rifles. For the application I think that yours are excellent. Thanks for the good work. There are a lot of considerations and compromises in trigger design.
EVOL has a two stage trigger which is very different than a two ratio trigger and more similar to a single stage in performance and operation.
In a two stage the trigger, only the trigger blade moves during the first stage. This is the free play and the resistance is controlled by an adjustable spring. Typically about 4oz for an EVOL.
The second stage is where the sears actually move and break. The difference between the first and second stage is typically 1oz and the travel is extremely short.
The trigger is a about 5oz when measured but the feel to the shooter is more like 1oz. This is because the human brain will cancel out the first stage pull and manly feel the second stage only.
At some point I'll do a full writeup on how the different types of trigger function, and their pros and cons.
