.30 Does anyone consistently shoot the 50.15 jsb?

I am just trying them out now in a Safari I recently bought and they look to be every bit as good as the 44s.
I keep hearing they were not as good as the 44s but I will be getting more.
Most of the DW/AW/RW/Ghost in .30 seem to like the 50.1 better than other pellets. Usually in the 860 to 880 fps ballpark. Although as @zx10wall mentions above, you need to try others since some will like the 44.75 better. I haven’t heard of any with the factory 600mm barrel that like the 56 ZAN the best, but it’s also a possibility.

I am tempted as all hell to try the 50.15 just because of the weight difference hoping they will handle wind better but part of me says no don't lol

The grass isn't always greener on the other side. I'd stick with what works... The BC of the 50.1 is only marginally better than the 44.75. Not enough to make a statistical difference... ALWAYS go with whatever is the most accurate!

Admittingly so, but don't you have to try them first, to see if they in fact are not more accurate? If he hasn't tried the 50's in his gun, he should.

He of course could. But you don’t get better accuracy than he’s getting from anything else. Even the Karma Red Panda 🐼 isn’t that accurate. But yes, can’t hurt to try.

I was thinking about this statement a lot last night, I may try the 50.15,

I do not think that my Paradigm is "magical" but I do think it is just right. If I could maybe get in touch with Steve Corcoran to send him the stock and have him put two little small mlok rails at the very front of the stock on the sides (even though the stock is gorgeous I do not believe a 1.5" mlok rail on either side would take away from it) so I could mount another pound of weights and easily remove them I think it would make this thing even more precise!

I went to Steve Corcoran's website to see if he had any variants for the Paradigm, like the one Dana has, but all his sales for AAA stocks are for Tom and sell through AoA exclusively. I am thinking, real seriously, about putting mine to the belt sander and slimming the whole stock down. Sure, on the bench it's great but walking around with it I find it kind of thick, which also makes it look awesome (which gives me second thoughts about changing it). That, the big plenum, and moving the the safety to in front of the trigger, and I'm thinking it will be as close to magic as I'll ever get. Good winter projects.

Before I change that stock, I would use some bar weights attached below and behind the bipod hanging from the under rail. Just me!

I’m always afraid to mess up a nice stock, so it is one reason I like tactical stocks.

I've been experimenting with .30 pellets from a 700mm FX Superior 1:40 twist in my Skout. The 44.75 JSB (and variants) are very accurate at 860 to 880 fps. The 50.1 are also accurate, but the BC is only a tiny bit better than the 44.75. Say, 0.047 to 0.043. Not significant and nothing you'd notice in the wind.

However, I've been shooting the 45 grain AEA pellets, and while they are similar in accuracy to the 44.75 JSB, the BC is significantly better, around 0.055 (greater than 20% increase). So, I've been shooting those, and plan to compete with them this year, at least Oregon and RMAC.

I did order a few tins of the AEA 50 grain pellets, since I had "heard" that some of the shooters at NAC were using them. I'd also heard of "fantasy" BCs for the 50s, like 0.072. Here's what I found - reality - no rumors, no fantasies. The 50 grain AEA have a larger head than the 45. I feel considerably more effort to insert the pellet into the breech. Also, shooting at the same speed as the 45 grain AEA I've been using (875 fps), the 50's were not as accurate, plus the BC was "only" 0.060, which is not significant compared the 45s.

I've been saying for years now that one of the "cons" of shooting .30 caliber was the inferior BC (and therefore wind drift) as compared to the .22 RD Monsters and the .25 King Heavy. With the AEA 45 grain, that is no longer the case, and puts .30 caliber on equal footing with the .22 and .25 Heavy pellets. Plus, you still retain the "pros" of .30 with being able to track the pellet in flight to see your misses, larger holes in targets to see your hits better, and additional FPE to down those stubborn KZs on the EFT targets.

One thing I found on both AEA .30 pellets is that sorting is pointless. All the pellets are within 0.1 grain of each other, and damaged skirts/heads are non-existent. So, for the 45s, I get 44.9 to 45.1 grain for the entire 150 grain tin.

My 600 mm Maverick seems to like the 50 gr just as well as the 44.75. I’ve only tested out to 50 yards though. I bought about 10-15 tins of the 50 on a whim when bullet central had them on sale ridiculously cheap. Glad they worked out!! I think I shot them once in my crown mk1 and they did good there as well. That gun had a new fx superior barrel in it though. Same as the Maverick. The 50 also produced better energy at only 30 fps slower speed.

Well, the 70 pigeons last week ceased rather consistently to do harm to cows and farmer....

My RTI Sub30/30 (.30cal with sub-30FPE) lobs them at 490fps to the pigeons —
they catch the lead,
and then they're dead.

Pretty consistently.

I really need to scopecam this.... — how the lead missile slowly descends upon them.
It can take half a second for the package to arrive....

Matthias 😆

Thats a wild pesting tune; ammo/speed combo😂 How did you arrive at that one!?
Methinks i'd select my S510 and 18gr Jsbs @ 880fps for about the same Fpe on target. I get the lack of speed to save any equipment/livestock/buildings from pass-thru or outright misses but that's still a big bundle of lead.... and not a very flat shooting one!
