Man was it nice to sleep in my own bed last night!!!!!!!

Now back to the Sonoran, the reason you folks are here.

EFT was in the morning each day. So during lunch I would run 2 wet patches and 2 dry patches through my barrel pulling a lot of flakes out. Then off to the bench....We all know the AEA's can leave a bunch of flakes.

Off the bench the Sonoran is the first semi bullpup I have shot. When I started this hobby, obsession, rabbit hole, whatever we call this addiction, I shot a full size rifle first, then a bullpup, and now the Sonoran as my first semi bullpup.

Day 1 of 100 yard bench rest. How do I know this? I am in short sleeves Otherwise I had long sleeves under my team shirt and the hoodie sweatshirt over that......Take a look at that wind flag on my barrel.....

So day 1 I was very pleased with my score. 214 and I was in the top of the pack in my relay....Wind was very tricky, switching from left to right, right to left, then straight from your back...about every 3-4 seconds it would change.

If anybody has mastered reading the wind please help me out.....

Day 2 was a 206, not great, but top 3rd of my relay. If I understood correctly the top 6 of each relay would make it to the finals....If I was reading the board correctly that night, I came in 4th in my relay. It wasn't really clear until we got to the range on Sunday.

Sunday came and we had made it in the finals!!!!!!!! I was so jazzed. Here is a picture of my card in the 100 yard finals.

I see 3 bulls that bit my A$$, 9-23-25.....I ended in the bottom 3rd in the finals. My score a 205.

For those looking at the pellet scores and thinking “the top 5 were only 214 to 219”, you haven’t experienced wind like this. It makes the wind at EBR and RMAC look tame…. Not necessarily the strength of the wind, but directional changes, mostly shifting from over your left shoulder to over your right shoulder and back every couple seconds. Plus a vertical component that we rarely see…. ( I stole this paragraph from my team captain)

I will tell you this, the Sonoran is one fantastic shooting rifle. I can't wait to get more pellets downrange and spend more time with it on the bench....

Well time for another cup of and the dreaded cleaning of all the gear.....

That looks pretty impressive Tony!! I am assuming from the shot count and Chrony numbers your had the power tune by AoA. Looks like at 100 indoors anyway the .45’s are amazing! Nice shooting for no longer than you have had it and still breaking it in.
Won’t be long you will be on the podium with it.

Yes Brad, it came to me with the power tune.....I have not touched a thing on the rifle.

Have any of y’all tried shouting slugs out of the Sonoran? Or is it strictly a pellet shooter? Not that there is anything wrong with that. I want one either way hahaha.

The barrel was designed for both being a 1:26 twist. The Howlers shoot pretty good in it. Dana @MountainSportAirguns hunts with the Sonoran and shoots them

Yeah I’m not a slug snob but it is always windy here in SW Utah and I’m almost exclusively a hunter. My 250z is the my first real pcp and slug shooter and I love shooting slugs. It still blows my mind how little I have to think about the wind until I start stretching out to 100y or so.

I saw the @MountainSportAirguns video which is what got me thinking about it. Looks like a comfortable gun to go roaming the high desert with.

Was out testing pellets today, Rangemaster 44's, AEA 45's, AEA 50's and some JSB 44's.....At 50 they all shot very nicely, but when pushed out to 100 yards at Rio the AEA 45's grouped the best.


I was aiming at the same spot, but need some more time at 100 with it where I "Read" the wind.....For me reading the wind is like when I started reading.....Dick, Jane, Hill....you guys get it I am sure The wind at Rio is like 4-5 syllables....I'm pretty much a 1-2 syllable type of guy

Sunday is a local 100 yard match and I am signed up for it...We shall see how the Sonoran and I do.

Was out testing pellets today, Rangemaster 44's, AEA 45's, AEA 50's and some JSB 44's.....At 50 they all shot very nicely, but when pushed out to 100 yards at Rio the AEA 45's grouped the best.

Hmmmm, I beg to differ. More than likely your memory is as short as your….
Anyway, that .25 Vulcan Tactic I sold you many moons ago was a semi bullpup.

Now Michael, you are right about the Vulcan being a semi bullpup, and yes I did forget about that rifle, but my sentence did say "Off the bench the Sonoran is the first semi bullpup I have shot"

The Vulcan was a squirrel schwacking machine for sure, but I never competed with it off the bench....Or maybe I did Hell that was long ago and many PCP's since.

I agree with your finding with the AEA 45gr shooting the best @ 100 yards. Adjust the hammer spring to get them shooting @ 895 fps. I've found them most accurate at that speed.

The local Rio 100 yard match was yesterday.....The Sonoran and I did "OK" Of course the wife had to beat me by 1 point Wind was hard, but the Sonoran is very accurate....The wind laid down for a time and I hammered this 5 shot group out.

Lauren was shooting her 22 on the first relay and the wind just moved that pellet all over the place...We (Wife, Lauren and Wes) all who are on the Wolf Pack, had a talk about how accurate the 22 is in no wind, but when you get wind like at Rio, RMAC, etc it looks like the larger calibers are going to be a better bet.

Second relay Lauren shot a 30 cal ghost and yeah she beat me too
