Ghost BRK Ghost Carbine and Pathfinder XR, my take…

This post was inspired by the @Billm thread on the Ghost vs. the Sonoran. Mine is not a versus thing per say as the features of the Ghost as far as power and versatility via barrel and caliber changes are not available on the Pathfinder XR. So there is no comparison there. But then again I am not into changing calibers, barrels, etc. I just like to shoot. What I love about my Pathfinder with a little scope atop. Is how lightweight and capable it is. Mine generates 22-25 FPE, which has proven to be plenty on pest birds from 20 to 111 range finder measured yards. Its an easy handling, very capable little PCP. And though my Ghost Carbine and Pathfinder are similar in footprint. The Ghost being a chassis gun is much heavier, particularly with a 6-24x50 scope atop. For me its strictly a bench gun or for pesting from an overwatch position. The Pathfinder I can walkabout with and thus more versatile for me in that way. The Ghost Carbine is simply Boss in its own right. But if I had to choose one for my uses?…. The Pathfinder…🙏 Then there are my sweet sweet Atomic XRs, 17 PFE of outszied “schwackery” on small pests…🙈 That said they are all siblings and are proven performers by many other users.

My pathfinder gets moved back and forth from a "pistol" for competitions to a carbine for schwacking pests. Transfer port on low I am under 12 FPE and Transfer port on high I am at just under 20 FPE...

I really didn't find the stock sloppy or maybe I didn't notice it when I am out schwacking pests.

Thanks for the information and inputs. I am considering the Atomic, the Ranger or the Pathfinder as a new acquisition. Pathfinder seems like a great gun, just not in stock at the moment. Ranger package comes with a moderator, picatinny rails installed and reactive iguana target; so, fun right away. The Atomic “We the Plinkers” video offering seems really great - Atomic, moderator, case, and first focal plane Athlon scope. Called and was informed that the included scope is now a second focal plane. Really wanted the FFP. So, back and forth a bit.

Don’t forget about letting your HAM points build up and getting 10% off.

Plus you live to close to AoA that buying used should definitely be considered, when available of course.

I will be shooting the pathfinder at the Sonoran Grand Prix in March for the pistol competition, so if you are around after the match you are welcome to shoot it.

Nice comparison. I was seriously considering the Pathfinder. I’m at the point where I don’t shoot offhand anymore because of the weight of most of my guns. But, I’m going to maybe buy one more bench gun. But, I see why you like it and the Atomic. Your posts and Jessica’s videos make the BRK compacts look very appealing.

L.L. , I'm seeing this compact trend more & more as I go along in my air escapades, now that I have my 2nd compact gun ( AirMaks Katran Compact Bottle.22). My Kral NP03 w/ bottle & reg kit has been my go to rat gun for a couple years.

It’s understood that the Compacts are not benchrest competition PCPs. But in other uses? Hunting, pesting, plinking and targets. They perform far beyond their size, my Atomic XR is my main ratter…
