I have over the years build a handful of Benjamin rifles in many calibers. 177 22 25 discoverys. 22 25 & 30 Marauders and a few Prods in 177 and 22. As I developed in my Airgunning shenanigans I slowly moved away from Benjamin to more complicated builds for pcp rifles.
Fancy & complicated is not always better. Sometimes we can fall pray to hype, we all have. Sometimes simple is the best way to go. Ease of use for the end user seems to always be a more enjoyable result.
The higher we go in fill pressures the more we have seen leak points. 4500psi was alot just 5 years ago now we are seeing 5k and 7k psi fills. More pressure in complicated guns means more leak points and more frustration for end users.
Anyway I digress. Back to the Marauder. I had put up a wanted add for a Benjamin Marauder for a few weeks just putting feelers out hoping something would surprise me. Surprise me it did
. I wanted a walnut stocked Mrod with a lother walther barrel and wrote "regulated is a plus" Enter the walnut Fieldtarget edtion Mrod. A fella who had purchased some parts from me and follows my channel for his Barra needs reached out and said I think I have what your looking for. He sent some pics and sure enough it checked all the boxs. Walnut, regulated & lother walther barrel. To boot it has a adjustable buttpad.
He said I don't need any trades but I would how ever like for you to tune my barra. So a deal was struck. Ill give his barra everything ive got. Full port and polish tune, match grade trigger. Tune the rifle for 100 yards for a pellet/slug of his choosing. And one of the RogueAir the last air bender moderators

So where do I go with this rifle?
after going back & forth with myself on what to do with it, I may just leave it as-is and enjoy shooting some match grade benjamin 14.3gr pellets. I will probably take it apart and clean and lube, polish contact points etc etc. For sure pull the lawyer spring and tune trigger.
The marauder is a simple rifle. Low fill pressure. Not complicated what so ever. A very stright forward rifle that can be enjoyed as is or go to the endless aftermarket and build out a dream gun. These rifles can be good for the beginner or the Veterans of the hobby.
Remember to Enjoy the process
